Hey, a similar post was raised about a week ago on launch day: Oceanic War Mode is BROKEN
I just wanted to highlight this again after a week of the expansion being live to give a bit of an update, as it is even worse now.
The TLDR of the situation if you don’t want to read the other post is:
-
Oceanic servers fall under the NA Server Group
-
NA Server group has higher Horde population, so Alliance gets 30% WM bonus
-
Oceanic servers specifically have a much higher Alliance population
-
Therefore, Alliance dominates world PvP on Oceanic shards, while maintaining the 30% bonus for free
Over the week this has gotten much worse since launch, because there is absolutely no incentive to leave war mode on - the 10% works out slower if you get killed a couple of times.
So there is now this compounding effect where the few Horde players that had WM on have been turning it off, which in turn makes it even harder for the rest who have it on, so even more people start turning it off, and so on.
The OP of the other thread said they experienced a 1:10 ratio. Honestly right now in the Maw it’s more like 1:15, if not 1:20, and since no mounting… well yeah. Literally not possible.
There has to be a solution for this. Surely it would be possible to apply the War Mode bonus based on the local shards, rather than the entire server group. That would be the correct way to do it wouldn’t it?
The bonus should be based on the people that you actually play against, rather than on people playing on the other side of the world that you never interact with outside of instances.
Cheers
