Hi, I would like to start a blood elf paladin for TBC and want to make sure I join a realm with a strong economy and player base. The only realm that is high pop is a pvp realm and not sure if it’s worth playing on a pvp realm if all I want to do is raid. Does anyone know of a good realm?
If you are looking for a populated (horde side) PVE server, try Mankrik.
You would likely be best served with a medium to high server pop, meaning medium bordering on high or high bordering on medium. Server queues are going to be a thing again, I transferred to Pagle (alliance equivalent to mankrik) and it has had a steady, heavy stream of incoming transfers. The log in queues are going to be insane even when considering Blizzard has stated they increased server capacities and will have layering.
The upside to high pop: plenty of peeps to keep the server thriving, good for group content, good for auction house. The downside: server queues.
PvE/P,RP,PvP-RP all up to you.
Forgot to mention ironforge.pro, you can deselect regions/server types you aren’t interested in. This will give you a picture of the populations/skews. Create toons on servers you are interested in, investigate Stormwind/Orgrimmar activity and trade chat. Also check the auctions of items of note to see how they compare to your server.
If you are looking for a PVE server, Mankrik is really about your only option for a high population horde server.
Grobbulus is pretty chill now that progression raiding has come and gone. Don’t let the RP in RP-PVP scare you, like maybe only seven percent of the server even stays in character.
The highest pop PVE realm for Horde is Mankrik as others have said. You don’t want to roll there. It is insanely out of control overpopulated right now, and it is going to be very difficult to level there. Expect long queues and stupid amounts of competition for quest items and resource farming for months after launch.
You may want to consider medium populataion servers that will likely become high pop at launch and then settle back into medium in the months afterwards. On the east coast you want to look at Windseeker and Ashkandi. Windseeker seems to be somewhat more active right now.
