People parrot this argument, yet the only place I see Blizzard directly use the phrase “experiment” is when speaking of runes, saying for players to experiment with different rune abilities to change up the play style of a class.
Warlocks & fire mages are above paladins & melee hunters at the 95th percentile. Warlocks are above paladins and fire mages are about tied with melee hunters at the 75th percentile. Warlocks are only below rogues, warriors, and marksman hunters at 50th percentile. Arcane mages even are less than 2% behind fire mages - which are less than 1.5% behind paladins - at 50th percentile, even.
Other casters are behind, but from a damage perspective, several haven’t even come online at level 25. Now, mana issues they may have (read as: likely will have if not addressed) once they’re online is a completely different beast to address.
And to OP: To quote myself once more, since this topic has come up once more:
. . . That having been said, itemization later in the game balances it out far more than it is currently sitting at, and tying spell damage to intellect would either have to be so minuscule that it’s essentially worthless, or it would be so good that you may as well remove spell damage on gear, as it’d be far more effective at increasing your damage and your mana pool to simply stack int.
Though the better casters are now much higher than they were than they time of writing that 22 days ago, in essentially every bracket.
