Entertainment can be so many things. I wouldn’t really call “hey, you’re strong. you can get through this. I know you can.” some big subtext / propaganda whatever.
If people want war all the time in the game, then they should accept the consequences and see the aftermath of it.
Negatory, there has been a million threads basically asking for darker and more edge in stories. But all in all in both threads its all the same people making the same arguments. You get the RAWR We can’t have violence in a video game that’s toxic masculinity type people. Or the ones that for some other purpose think it’s a bad message to send. Or any other various reason, darker side similar thing either because they serve an anti-woke agenda or because they want more genuinly dark stories because they like them. Either way it’s a cycle that goes again and again both groups are just rehashing the same thread.
I’m sure there’ll be ‘complaints’ no matter which way the game’s story goes. But will it actually be the same people every time? I think that’s unlikely. Unless you’re tracking who’s making posts, it’s more likely to me that it’s different people preferring different things.
I know, but I won’t deny there is people that want it simply because they think it serves the anti-woke agenda more. That may not be me, but I do see the people that try to argue on the same side for the wrong reasons.
People like to stir drama, in some cases it’ll be the same people just because they want to beat the drum and get people riled up.
What matters the most to me is variety. Sometimes you want dark story. Sometimes a lighter story. Other times a sad one, etc. I like when Zones have multiple options of where to go. Northrend being a great example of this for example. Everyone’s funneled into one zone. I wish continents were more bigger/focused.
If it’s there it’s there I don’t understand peoples problem. I feel the way it was done at least from my perspective that likes the older characters it was done in a respectful manner. They didn’t try to shift anyone into something they wasn’t and the story progressed naturally. They introduced new characters, I do feel like going forward it would be nice if they keep those characters updated and have some form of growth so they can work their way into the main plot. Just imho though. I prefer growth over switches.
Apparently that in-game cinematic was made by only 1 guy super close to the raid launch because initially they weren’t going to have anything for Garrosh after the fight and he didn’t want that.
In the near 20 years that I have played World of Warcraft, one thing can be for sure: People will whine and moan about something, and when it is given to them they will then whine and moan about it… especially on the forums.
I don’t want darker stories as much as I want Blizzard to stop being safe. WARCRAFT. The name itself is dumb and silly and invokes a certain image. It’s the name some nerd in the 90s came up with to describe their Warhammer rip off.
WoW doesn’t and has never needed to be HBOs next big drama. Do crazy dumb crap. It’s why I loved Legions story. It’s just whacky and nonsensical, it’s demons with damn space ships invading the planet.
I prefer that over an entire story based around Jainas family drama.
