Unless it’s outright a horror story, there should always be a light in the darkness. in the end we are still Heroes, and the Dark Lord, for all his terrible power, still fails and falls and hope is restored.

Or have some comedic relief.
It’s not because something switch to dark that everything has to become uninteresting. But you need someone that is able to write a story like that and that’s kinda a high task for a video game company. I would even say that the current style of writers just doesn’t work with the franchise.

I want wow to stay goofy creepy, personally. Love the Tim Burton aesthetic for the undead, for example. You’re so on the money with wanting action, though. These people think they’re Salo, but they’re Endgame.

Darker or lighter doesn’t matter to me. I just don’t think everyone should be magically best friends suddenly just because of a time jump. There is a lot of baggage there. And I don’t want the Horde swallowed up in the name of unity.
