they like to take decent ideas and turn them into sub-par ideas.
Like Island Expeditions.
Blizzard is too scared to let new systems overshadow their standard Mythic+ and Raid formula.
If Torghast ended up more fun and appealing to a majority of people, it would require them to reconsider their formula. Can’t have that, that requires work.
Then scale the difficulty of higher floors to account for our powers. You know like every other roguelike. And/or reduce the rate at which we gain powers.
Not having open-ended, infinite runs is a mistake and defeats the idea of Thorghast.
Snowballing in roguelikes is stupid.

Just make the rate of power gain slower, and make the floor difficulty increase more quickly.
Solved.
BlizZard is afraid of success. News at 11. That design paradigm is why PVP is in shambles at the moment.
Welcome to World Of Waitcraft… Where everything is behind a wall and you can’t just grind out anymore… Frustrating.
Yes, this was why I was looking forward to it. In Alpha everyone was excited by Torghast and they didn’t want Blizzard to introduce time limits. They even begged Blizzard to not make entry dependent on a key. Well Blizzard half listened. They added a death limit, they added the mob that chased people if you died too much, they added these weird affixes, and now we have this watered down version.
They just added and changed too much from the original version. Honestly if they just buffed the monsters, and added better spec defining buffs, Torghast would be a smash hit. It is sad what they did to it.
have said this a few times in different places, have the tarrague (whatever) roam the floors through out torghast, give it the percentage of coming out on different floors each time.
So… people asking for proof and official statements instead of blindly following a statement is bad?
And here is evidence that the OP was talking out of their butt.
Simply asking for supporting evidence makes you a blizzard white knight now.
I was really excited by the infinite Torghast idea as well.
Certainly they had some good reason for removing it. I hope, anyway.
It’s a shame.
I like games I can just endlessly scale and kill crap in. It’s relaxing to pop on a stream, or netflix or just listen to some music while I do it.
Use to be how I played and why I enjoyed WoW. Though, then WoW became a game that likes to place walls in front of me that encourage short daily playing, rather than long term grinds.
Ok you got us. That was our secret plan all along. we actually held a emergency meeting of the .1%ers shortly after blizzcon and decided we were gonna pretend to be excited and give feedback to slowly take away torghast from the casual solo players.
The plan is working as planed. All hail our great overlord preach!
To keep crazies away from bringing attention at Fox news
Because they know people would feel like they HAVE to keep pushing it endlessly and feel like Legion’s infinite AP farm all over again. Those who could play 24/7 all day every day no life would get much further in cosmetic progression while people who are busy with rl will be WAY behind and have a hard time catching up. And I agree, its not fair to have players running around with kyrian wings week 1 while others will have to wait multiple weeks.
This would not have been an issue if they just set a limit to how much progression you can get a week. Torghast in Alpha was so fun that people just enjoyed running it, even though there was no reward. They killed the best idea they have had in years.
