Wait, wait, wait. Lightforged Draenei can be what now?

new worgen characters don’t have to start in gilneas, they can start in exile’s reach, so the gilneas being isolated isn’t a problem. now whether their “rage” makes them unable to be monks is another issue, but orcs literally have Blood Fury as a racial and can be monks, so there’s that. Horde shamans Bloodlusting their fellow horde monks doesn’t make the monks unable to act properly.

It’s actually a bit surprising that they didn’t add Lightforged Draenei Monks for Dragonflight.

But yeah, I agree that we probably won’t see a single new race/class combo added until 11.0. Even then, it probably won’t include adding Monks to Worgen and Goblins as I think the focus of the next rollout of new race/class combos will be on Paladins and possibly also Shamans.

Future race/class combos will probably be handled like SL Death Knights where they get a specific new starting experience just for the new races for the classes.

To be honest, though, I don’t think stuff like Night Elf Shamans are necessarily currently planned to be added anytime soon, considering they’re going out of their way to explicitly state that Night Elf Primalists are NOT Shamans at all, and that they just happen to use elemental powers without actually being Shamans.

They took one look at Martial artist werewolves like Jon Taibain and Kevin from Trials of Mana and decided “That is a stupid concept, let’s never do that.” Just one of many mistakes and missed opportunities on Blizzard’s part.

0 reason they shouldn’t be able to be monks. Even less of a reason now with exiles reach.

I’ve seen mentioned somewhere lore wise, worgen have to much rage or something, then I just point at the orc monks and shrug.

Now, after reading some of this thread I want to play my monk but can’t because the game is acting like a wiener.

Figures.

ok so let me explain something, Rogues are more than just villains and stuff like that you have to remember the Light-forge is a race bathed in the light true but they also had to fight off Demon, you can’t be seriously thinking Light-Forge wouldn’t have a secret group of assasins specialized in killing off Demon.

Light Forge are a race not a class… also i don’t know why Worgens and Goblins don’t have Monks i honestly think they should have had Monks by now considering both Worgens and Goblins have Priests.

they don’t have Paladins, but they do have the Priest class.

and Worgen Monk would make a lot of sense considering Worgens have to fight off constantly their inner rage because of the curse they have, Monk have strong mental training so they can exacute their blows better after all they fight with their hands most of the time.

That’s the thing, Worgen have to seek balance between their humanity and bestial fury. The Monk class would be perfect for this as it’s the class about meditation and disicpline.

the fact that they have inner rage problem should be a very solid reason for them to have monks to be honest.

there had to be at least a Worgen out there that decided to practice the way of the Monk so they can control their inner rage…

i really don’t know why they don’t have the monk class yet, and goblins too i mean there is plenty of money that can easily be made with the way monks fight.

You’re right about rogues but I’d go further and say that rogues aren’t villains or heroes necessarily.

Rogues are the class that does the dirty work, the things that no one else wants to do and they’re very effective.

As to why worgens and goblins aren’t monks, Stabmcstabby said it best above: “they can’t be water, too much mind noise” so they can’t hold chi, essentially.

Goblins are obsessed with gold, worgens are at war within themselves. It’d be exhausting.

Real life myth says they come from cabbages. As far as this game is concerned, I think they’re tough, don’t mind polluting things, always building, experimenting, blowing stuff up.

Goblins are like little wild green monsters from Hoboken New Jersey.

What I vaguely recall from looking this stuff up is that it’s really old mythology. Over a thousand years old, I think.

It’s changed over time, the stories of goblins being born from cabbages in gardens is Celtic & English in origin but goblins are a form of elf and they come from the Norse/northern european region.

It’s interesting, you can look it up if you want to know more. Lots of stuff out there about it.

I wondered where the idea that they came from cabbages came from. Maybe some gardener across the pond found something weird in the garden & decided to call it a goblin? Idk.

  • Northern Euros still believe in elves, btw. They even plan their roads to go around boulders because they don’t want to anger them.
Celts believed in the Sidhe and those were some scary stories they told. That’s also really old.

I don’t really want to talk about cabbages. It’s a really good, under stated veg that if you don’t cook it right will gas you up.

Maybe that’s why they made goblins so stinky ingame. Idk.

Okay well get yourself a cabbage head, some polska kielbasa and slice the polska kielbasa into coins, put in bottom of a double boiler, fill with water part way, put in strainer then take off outer cabbage leaves, slice in half, then quarters, put in strainer, put lid on and boil it up.

It’s done when the cabbage is still firm but obviously been steamed.
Use strainer to take kielbasa out, put in bowl, add the steamed cabbage & cover with butter.

Makes a great meal.
