Let’s say I decided to push this season on my druid with a consistent group. We have a roughly 20% success rate on the keys we run, and since everyone knows the goal, nobody bats an eye with how many keys we aren’t completing. Now when I go to PUG a key on my monk, every group leader will see that I only completed 20% of my keys on my druid, essentially making me untouchable for anyone using this addon? That’s somehow better than a minority of players leaving keys willy nilly?
Do you have a quote from Blizzard on this?
But even still, is it not gameplay sabotage to join content that’s over your head or being toxic toward your group? What you continue to ignore/deflect from is the fact that 4 players can have their time wasted having a player that performs at the level of a 6 join a 15. That players can have their time wasted by a player acting overly toxic once a key starts. And that both of these activities are kept in check today by the lack of a leaving penalty.
I am not opposed to the concept of a penalty for leaving a group once the key has started. I am opposed to the downstream impact such a penalty would have as it relates to other ways players can waste their party’s time. The fact that I can leave as soon as it’s clear the group is incapable of completing the content or if someone starts calling me every name in the book makes those practices far less common than they would be if a penalty is applied for leaving.
Speak for yourself tbh. I don’t want keys I actually need bricked to a useless level and then just going through an endless cycle of getting more keys I don’t need just because one guy decided to troll.
Half the keys I’ve seen people bail out of weren’t even bricked anyway, there was plenty of time. Just some turds having a hissy fit or shame quitting.
Or invest time into better games.
Infact, this goes both ways. Don’t want to risk losing time in a failed M+ because leaving has a penalty? Aww too bad.
…make friends. Don’t pug.
They absolutely do. I saw a key bricked by some shaman just today who didn’t bother to even try and out dps the tank, died constantly, just spammed “HAHA!” and fake d/c’ed.
But that guy get’s no consequences, because:
“Wahh me dun wanna commit to a whole 15 more minutes of the dungeon wahh unfair! muh time!”
Meanwhile, keyholder likely having to spend literally hours of grinding to get the key they need back again: totally fine no problem lol.
I’m not the one crying about an issue in the game that doesn’t exist.
If I’m in a key and I can recognize that a tank not doing basic mechanics on the first boss of AV where he’s not putting the breath on the trees so when the boss does his stomp it kills everyone that didn’t use an immunity im not going to stay.
They don’t. But in make believe land what reason would someone leave a good key that’s going fine that’s not an energency
Ultimately there is no good punishment for this that wouldn’t harm people for just playing the game. At best, I can see maybe a temporary lock out from using the LFG system similar to the way LFD/LFR locks you out for leaving those early, but even then it’s an iffy proposal at best.
Yes, some people are entitled and rude, and will brick your key for no reason at all, but that is the risk you take in pretty much anything that has to do with dealing with strangers, be it video games or anything else. The only real way to avoid this is to join a guild, put together a group of friends, or find a key running community where bad apples gain a reputation and are easier to avoid.
And the difference is that 15 minute timer is applied to people who leave queue content through LFG that’s automated for them. That isn’t happening here in M+. You are making a group. You are actively choosing to invite people who you don’t know if they’re gonna stick around throughout the whole key or not. You dunno if you’re inviting competent people or not. The system doesn’t punish people for making bad groups.
If I join your group and you invite a bunch of people who cannot perform, punishing me for realizing this isn’t gonna work, nor benefit me because you made a crap group is wild.
