I'd like to make a vulpira rogue and then go sap Alliance players while singing the Dolly and Dot song while circling around them. They'll get real familiar with that translation...
10/08/2018 02:32 AMPosted by FelvixenThere is also the question as to why everyone, even races that just came into the world at large, can learn monk skills, but Worgen and Goblins still can’t for some reason.
So this is... iffy. Why is lightforged randomly the only race that can't be monks? Especially when Eredar had monks on Argus. That was literally shown in Mac'aree. And one of the lightforged NPCs are a monk. Yeah I get they're different then a pandaren monk but tauren paladins are different then human paladins. And even if it HAS to be pandaren trained monk why is lightforged the only race unable to be trained by the pandaren?
Like literally nightborn just came out of a damn bubble and for the first year or 2 (However long legion was) the majority of them were hostile. I suppose it's possible there were a group of pandaren living there since before the bubble went up (As pandaren had contact with the night elves 10k years ago) and had been teaching them how to be monks this whole time but that was never explicitly stated and there is nothing to imply it. Which means Nightborn monks learned how to be monks in a matter of months.
Highmountain being monks can make sense because highmountain weren't secluded other then being on the broken isles. Pandaren monks could've traveled there and been teaching them for generations for all we know.
Dark irons have been everywhere so it's not hard to see them being monks.
Mag'har I believe the lore reason is some individuals got left behind after the Draenor campaign. Including some pandaren monks. Which helped the Mag'har rebuild and tried to bring peace and balance among the orcs. But this wasn't actually shown in game in the scenario. But it's certainly possible.
Void elves are iffy. But maybe they were blood elf monks before becoming void elves? Or maybe they sought out pandaren/other monks to learn the discipline to control the whispers and to keep the void within them in check.
10/08/2018 03:01 AMPosted by EeveeSure they're confined to a little island now but as soon as some get to Orgrimmar and players see how awesome they are, everybody will reroll one and the population will explode and starve all the native horde species!
I need to find a Vulpera and steal their appearance!!!
10/08/2018 03:14 AMPosted by OrctangI don't see any reason the Vulpera shouldn't be Alliance instead of Horde.
Besides the fact that there isn't a single explicitly friendly to Alliance Vulpera? And the ones who are neutral are neutral hostile (the pirates) or neutral friendly (The pet battle trainers). Plus the Vulpera Hideaway. Literally their main town is considered horde territory and hostile to alliance players. The Vulpera in south Vol'dun fighting the skeletal pirates are orange. Meaning not hostile, but still unfriendly. The Vulpera on that one dungeon helps you if you're horde, but is hostile if you're alliance.
It would literally make absolutely no sense for Vulpera to be alliance playable. This isn't the same thing as Nightborn were both factions aid them. Alliance has literally 0 friendly interactions with them. It'd be like if alliance got Zandalari, or the horde got Kul Tirans. The only way it could only make sense neutral is if a group of Vulpera pirates decide to give up the pirate life and join the alliance. Which is a real push lore wise and blizzard has also said they're unlikely to do another neutral race.
Also Nightborn were never alliance nor horde. They're former night elves true. But the night elves weren't in the alliance when they were part of the Kaldorei empire. So technically lightforged Draenei defaulting to alliance doesn't work. They're a separate group of Draenei who haven't had contact with Velen's Draenei since they originally left Argus, 25,000 years ago. There is no innate reason for them to join the Alliance. In fact it wasn't Velen or any regular Draenei who recruited the Lightforged. It was Turalyn a former alliance hero who brought them into the fray.
Nightborne have kin-ship with the night elves but there is absolutely no reason they should've defaulted to alliance. Because for one they were a group of mostly highbourn, while most modern night elves were lowborn. And night elves were historically very classist. While blood elves are also descended from night elven highbourn. So it was choose between the mean cousins who don't trust you (night elves). Or the friendly cousin who understand you. (Blood elves). It honestly didn't even have to do with alliance or horde. Siding with the horde was just a natural consequence of allying with Blood elves.
Either way they're both cousins. Just because night elves retain the appearance the nightborn used to have didn't mean they should automatically go Alliance. Nightborne have more in common with blood elves. Including a magical font that transformed them from normal night elves into their current form.

Do the Vulpera have a part to play in 8.1?
Whether or not this race was really meant to appease and grab more people into WoW. All I can say for myself in a completely reasonable point is that being something that doesn't look too human is bland. That's why I like Worgens, Tauren, Pandaren. Hell, I may be a furry to a degree but first comes is that I just like to stand out than being something I'm obsessed.
Plus, how can you not want to be a Vulpera after Dolly and Dot pulling you through dunes of sand?

Fingers crossed for Vulpera, I'm still holding out hope on them being a play-able race. I stated all the obvious, observed all the information, but it's really on Blizzard's end now. Since they can choose to make their player-base happy, or change their mind and break everyone's heart.
Provided they make Vulpera, they have a promised race-change from me, which is cash in their pocket. o3o
Also, Eevee. I tried adding you on WoW, but...I don't know how to add people on another server. So, tough cookies on my end. xD

See the thing about the unfriendly but not hostile bit makes me think that there was plans at some point for alliance to have the possibility to earn rep with them, but that somewhere along the line that got kiboshed.

Nah some NPCs in Dazar are like that as well for alliance.
What a fine upstanding constructive and positive thread full of fine upstanding constructive and positive posters all rallying as a passionate community to see the remarkably popular push for playable vulpera become both an enjoyment and and a profit making reality.

The Vulpera Community is a gem of a community and an example of how one should conduct themselves for the most part. I will always sing praises about them for sure :D

Yeah, I really don't understand why nightborn can be monks. While I like the monk class, I just wish it wasn't so tied with the Pandaren aesthetic and a bit more generic Aesthetic. We could then just go "Oh it's their version of monk". Kind of like how Gnome priests arn't channeling the holy light but just applying first aid (I hate when blizzard said this so much but wish it applied here too).
I want to say I think the reason why, or the reason given was due to those race's starting zones being way back even before the cataclysm (or well taking place during the cataclysm). Monks weren't around back then so blizzard didn't want to add monks to them...
but then all the other races got monks. And the timeline is already all screwy. oh well. I'm just happy that there are 3 races that can't be monk. I made my points earlier on why.
I do actually hope that Vulpera can be monks however since their lore of Free slaves lines up with Pandaren. Would be fun/cool.
I remember them saying back in the day worgen and goblins could not be monks since their models did not get upgraded they lack the same bone structure as the updated models.
I would hope when and if the goblin and worgen models get updated they get monks.
I can see Vulpera learning the way of the monk.

Not completely true. I heard that explanation after 6.0 (were every one but blood elves, worgen, and goblins got updated). Thing is every one got monk when monk was release at 5.0 during Pandaria.
