Hi foxes. How are you? It's refreshing to see one of the only mature threads around here lately on fp again.

No U!
I'm good! How are you?
Just trying to give people a place to talk about something positive.
The problem is, the vulpera appear on both islands, on the alliance side from what I saw they are pirates and this is a pirate-esk themed expansion if anything they won't be playable unless they were made a neutral race like the kul'tirans would be, pirates are... sorta like mercenaries in some capacity, unlike mercenaries they don't have a going rate they can be bribed and paid in large sums of money to fight for your cause.
The Kul'tiran kingdom is in itself a pirate-esk faction in itself despite being a very organized one (not unlike pirates of the caribbean would lead us to believe).
As strange as it would be to see humans in the horde faction but you can't have one without the other, if ones a neutral faction the other has to be, the only reason the pandaren worked so well as a single neutral race is because of the fact that they were the only race to be added in during mop and the fact that they were neutral in the first place, here we're looking at two seperate potential races both being pirate factions.
Edit: FYI been playing the beta.

I'm ok. Glad to see one of my favorite threads being discussed again. I'll have to read the research done when I get home.
Have you guys seen the updated hyenas? Probably but I saw one in game and I have to say it looks fabulous.
I'll probably be willing enough to suck it up and level my Vulpera through the changes since I want to play them enough. Still hoping for dungeons to start being reliable and worth it again though :(
I saw them while leveling in Tanaris ^^ They are gorgeous! I used to be terrified of their models but now I want one as a pet for my Hunter.07/20/2018 08:16 AMPosted by Fallynn07/20/2018 08:09 AMPosted by Eevee...

Holding out the faint hope datamining pulls up a hyena with glorious golden plate...
I mean, it's only SLIGHTLY less unlikely Druids, right?

I am curious though, have we ever discussed what Vulpera druid forms would be like? I know they dont have a huge chance to becoming druids but im curious as to wonder what they would even be.
07/20/2018 07:34 AMPosted by EeveeI'm genuinely torn between my instinct that neutral races are a bad idea (Yes, I'm aware of the irony) and my desire for everybody to have a fox.
I think if I were to pick the responsible thing though it would have to be deciding neutral races are a bad idea.
Neutral races are undeniably a hit or miss, as it's essentially just a way of saving effort by making just one race that both sides have access to rather than 2 races, which of course would be limiting the racial variety among the factions.
Though in the Vulpera's case I'd totally be onboard with the idea, not only because I myself utterly adore them but that there are others who do as well on both factions. In truth, the Vulpera are probably the most popular potentially-playable race in recent times and giving them to just one side is guaranteed to result in just as many happy people as it will unhappy people.
The consequence of that would most likely be a massive transition of players from their original faction to one that they probably are strongly distasteful of, so essentially they'd end up jeopardizing the expansion's faction conflict theme due to how many players really just couldn't give less of a s**t about the faction they're in because of this one sinfully good race.

I believe the idea was floated to save resources by having them borrow assets from the Kul'tirans but other than that, no. I'm curious if anybody can come up with something. I've been puzzling over how to make a vulpera bear and it always comes out weird in my head.
Their travel form should be an Alpaca.07/20/2018 08:33 AMPosted by Eevee07/20/2018 08:29 AMPosted by Marionettè... OwO /nod/nod

I mean, you need not look very far to see that. The Vulpera Hype Caravan and this thread being pretty evident examples of it.

Either neutralize Kul'tirans and Vulpera or don't make them playable races period.

I am sorry, but the pirates have no influence or anything over the allied races. The only Vulpera on Kul Tiras are pirates, who you -kill-. You have a 75% of killing Eudora too, depending on the random friendly Pirate leader you work with. There is no way you'd get allies out of those permanently, seeing as there are many outcomes.
I am sorry, but they almost certainly are a Horde race. Random NPCs do not dictate playable races.

That doesn't change the fact that the Vulpera are a pirate faction, pirates are either for hire at large sums of gold to fight for any cause regardless of who it is or they are by themselves.
The only way to make vulpera a playable race is through a neutral status like pandaren otherwise you will be creating an unnecessary faction change and a very severe divide.
Kul'Tirans and Vulpera as neutral playable races or non-playable period.

I feel like you didn't do any Horde content, so let me enlighten you. Vulpera are a nomadic race native to Vol'dun, with a specific reputation Voldunai, for them. They are -not- a Pirate faction.
Eudora, the Vulpera you likely are speaking of, has a 75% of dieing every time the dungeon is completed. Her crew is also any and all beastial races(kobolds, furbolgs, that stuff), not only Vulpera.

Yet you're wanting to segregate both major factions, here's a bit of a fun fact though, the alliance has helped furbolgs in its time and countless other creatures yet they are not an alliance race, helping some race doesn't automatically make it a factions race, frankly they should just stay as non-playable like the kul'tirans as we've already got TWO new races this expansion already.
