Vulpera Discussion Megathread (Part 1)

I don’t think the next races will get druids. Vulpera? Maybe, but mechas won’t. I find it way more likely that tinkers will come next expansion and supply special favor for gnomes, goblins and their kin.

Both kul tiras and zandalari had druids introduced before they became playable. Neither vulpera nor mechagnomes have druids right now. MAYBE vulpera could learn druidism in their recruitment, who knows, but mechagnomes do not fit thematically at all. Just giving them roboforms wouldn’t be enough to make it fit

Don’t expect druids. It’s my friendly warning. The odds are against it, especially for mechagnomes.

Aww, but their travel form is adorable

Han Solo: “Never tell me the odds.”

I know it’s unlikely, but I can still hope. :unamused:

Fixed for ya.

I’m sorry to all the vixen here, but imo the Goblin/Worgen revamp will be the “Allied Race release” of 8.2.5.

I feel like they’ll save Vulpera and Junkergnomes for a 4-piece 8.3.5 reveal at Blizzcon like they did with the pre-BFA allied races.

Also, congratulations with seeing that Firekeeper  nice to get unofficial confirmation

Tbh that’s what I’ve suspected as well. The best way to combat the inevitable disappointment when they add mechagnomes is to add something else along with them too. With four races added all at once they have a better chance of everyone finding at least one that they find exciting.

Lol, funny how obvious this is. But then to be fair, we’d probably get a similar reaction with a Tuskarr neutral race added as a “Pandaren allied race”.

Anyways! I was originally thinking of Vulpera Rogue for my class/race pick but then I feel that will be too “played out” and am deciding making a caster one.

Which caster class makes “most sense” or would be the one you see frequently when thinking of Vulpera? I would think a Fire Mage, any other thoughts?

I could see Warlock. Vulpera seem opportunistic, so I feel like they’d take power wherever they can find it. Also a tiny fox person cackling maniacally while setting everything on green fire is a fun mental image.

I do not want to see foxes as a playable race, If foxes do become a playable race… please let them be for Alliance.

Possible. Likely. But… we know so little of 8.2.5 that we can still hope.

True, but I have come to terms with Blizzard releasing things at a snails pace. It’s okay though since life and other games can help pass that time haha

I hope the 8.2.5 PTR goes up soon, I was wanting 8.2 to hurry and come because the real exciting datamining will be in 8.2.5.

That is a possibility. I’m trying very hard to just focus on the worgen model updates and not get my hopes too high for anything related to vulpera in 8.2.5.

Regardless of whether or not it’s Vulpera, it would be a shame if there were no new allied races in 8.2.5 though.

It would, 1 pair per “majorish” patch has been working out well. I’m just trying to rein in expectations/hopes as well.

The biggest upgrade they could make to worgen is the addition of tails.

Golden tried so hard to help us…

8.3.5 won’t come out until March or April 2020, so I hope we get something before that. With 8.2.5 being the last patch before Blizzcon, and probably the last patch of the year due to holidays delaying 8.3 to January, I hope we get vulpera and mechgnons in it.

We still have around one month to speculate. 8.2.5 announcement will probably come near the end of July…

Cross your fingers (or tails).

Regarding Vulpera druids, I would think all the sentient beast races have some connection to the Wild Gods. While they may not be linked to the Emerald Dream now, it’s not really much of a stretch for their patron Wild God or Loa to invite them into the club.

It’s easier to explain than KT droods at any rate.

As for mechadruids, they could always rationalize them as being technological imitations with no link to standard druid things (Wild Gods or the Dream) in the lore, but use druid spells/quests for game mechanics. Sort of like how paladins would probably use different spells depending on race (eg, a “real” Tauren Sunwalker might use Solar Wrath or Sunfire in place of Judgement), but share a standard toolkit for gameplay reasons.

Considering updated models for worgen/goblin are 2 expansion delayed. I doubt they’re gonna use those as the allied race for 8.2.5. Though they may get their heritage armour which would be nice. If they do there could be a lore tidbit. Where Gallywix is finally usurped. As is Greymane. Because both are leading their race and faction down the path to hell.

Worgen story could be ceremony where Tessa Greymane is bitten and becomes a worgen and then her father is killed.

Goblin could be Gazlowe and or Boss Mida stage a coup over gallywix. Hopefully he dies but can see him being imprisoned too.

Mechadruids? whaaat

Why am I picturing “transphormer” mechagnome druids?
