Vulpera Discussion Megathread (Part 1)

Best part of playing a vulpera will be staring at that glorious floofy tail every waking second until I die.

It is not a question of whether they are good or not, but that they are not as remarkable as the vulperas are!
If JG is all that the Alliance receives in BfA, it will be as if Horde won an F-500 Ferrari and the Alliance received a 68 VW beetle!

In terms of gain and prestige, the differences would be painful for Ally!

It would be like giving draconics to the Alliance and Pygmies to Horde!

I can only speak for myself, but I do not feel any enthusiasm for the possibility of receiving a frankeistein version of Jinyus, when we could at least have the true jinyus!

For me, JG are equal to Brainy Smurf and Ankoran a Monster High version of Jar Jar Binks!

Yes! Go ahead and rub this truth in my face! :wolf:

Wouldnā€™t it be something if vulpera were announced on the anniversary of this thread?

It may be a little vain of me to think so but I would be really honoured if there was some kind of in game nod to this thread or its frequent participants when and if Vulpera become playable.

Also, I didnā€™t realise this thread was coming up on a year. Wow

While I have zero interest in playing one myself I fully support his race becoming playable for those who want it.

You are the kind of person the world needs a lot more of.

Agreed entirely. I look forward to seeing what happens to actually bring them into the horde :o

When they get announced I wonder if Eevee will jump for joy or be too tired out from over a year of anticipation?

If you can read this it means I made it to trust level 3 and I can finally revamp the front post with some groovy graphics!

Hype!

Iā€™ve been very curious since seeing that. Hearthstone added a bunch of tortollan cards back in the ungoro expansion, about 7 months after legion launched (and 7 months before they showed vulpera at blizzcon 2017? I wasnā€™t following any WoW news at that time so Iā€™m not sure). I donā€™t know when vulpera concepts were first created, but surely it was around the same time as the tortollan, considering they have an entire zone for themselvesā€¦ I also donā€™t know if any tortollans existed in WoW during legion, I havenā€™t visited the unā€™goro zone in years (were there any tortollan NPCs there, or elsewhere during that time?).

Most importantly, was the wow or hearthstone team responsible for conceptualizing the tortollans, and did hearthstone reach out to the wow team for ideas? Did they respond with: ā€œyeah, you can use this unplayable turtle race, but donā€™t mention anything about X, Y, or foxesā€). Was that Unā€™goro expansion a Zuldazar expansion with a cover name, or which began as Zuldazar and then changed to Unā€™goro mid-way, at which point they started adding things like wasps and volcanoes? Thereā€™s even direhorn/raptor-form cards. Maybe there was a lot of idea sharing between the two teams, but vulpera have probably existed for ~2 years, and hearthstone chose not to mention them at all until now, even with the Rastakhan expansion.

The Witchwood reminds me of Drustvar*Gilneas, so maybe they were just taking inspiration from new WoW zones and then making them non-spoilery, and maybe a desert xpac will be on the horizon; or maybe they just didnā€™t want to disclose a confirmed playable race at WoW-teamā€™s behest.

So much more satisfying than seeing the heels of your characters (or other areas, for you perverts).

If they do make Vulpera playable, Iā€™m kinda anticipating a Q1-2020 release >.>;

(at first I read your name as Moolygos, as in malygos+tauren XD)

It mustā€™ve been a bit of a kick in the balls for a lot of horde players, back when alliance got worgen and they got goblins (partial furry bias there for sure, but Iā€™m pretty sure thereā€™s currently a significantly larger number of worgen characters compared to goblins). Also Iā€™m not sure how unique the Zandalari troll models are, but the kulā€™tiran models appear extremely unique compared to everything else currently available

Vulpera look very unique, and with alliance getting kul tirans I honestly donā€™t feel like the alliance deserves a super-special-unique AR for their next one (although it would certainly help in maintaining faction balance, Iā€™d be switching 90-100% of toons after having played solely alliance for 14 years, despite knowing zero horde players, despite not liking horde one bit).

I know peeps have listed mages here as a hopeful class several times, but wouldnā€™t the ability to conjure food for entire caravans nullify the entire background of the scavengers doing what they can to survive?
