Vulpera Celebration Thread! 🦊

FFXIV almost got me to try a month of game time with their new races. I was all excited to play a giant hulking cat monster thing and see if the game was improved since the last time I played it.

Then I found out they only come in male flavor

Unless they’ve been invited into the club by a Wild God, no, they can’t be a druid. Sure, they could learn a few nature spells like the Gilnean harvest witches did, but one needs a connection to the Dream to learn the rest.

They could add new stuff to the lore where a Wild God blesses regular humans (or Vulpera/Undead/Murlocs or whoever they want), but current lore doesn’t support it.

I think that’s the point Rokra was trying to make. When you make your character, you can write a believable personal narrative for any race/class combination you want. You’re the player, you’re special. You don’t have to follow the rules that apply to ā€œmostā€ druids.

However, I understand what point you’re making. It’s an MMO, there are lots of players running around and if everybody has their own personal story about why they’re a Mechagnome demon hunter then you just kind of… lose a bit of personal establishment in the world.

I’ll celebrate when I have the rep to play one.

I find it weird that there’s horde mains who don’t have Voldunai at exalted at this point. Even if you missed the hint that Vulpera were going to need Voldunai rep, you should have gotten it just doing your emissaries five months ago.

Oh, nah. I came back specifically because I told some people that if vulpera got announced I’d come back again just to play one.

Being one of my word, they got announced and here I am grinding rep. I only returned from like over a year of absence about a week ago.

I get that. I’m just saying they’d have to develop the lore so that Wild Gods were less picky.

It wouldn’t even have to be that complex. After we beat N’zoth, Blizz could let anyone be a druid, and explain it away in a simple letter (like the level 3 quest from trainers) saying the Wild Gods have invited some members of all the races who helped save the world into the Dream. Add in a line about needing everybody’s help to heal Azeroth and we’re good to go.

Welcome back!

Tips for grinding rep:

  • Voldunai contract from scribes
  • Whee! buff from Darkmoon Faire
  • Check your Mission table frequently for voldunai rep quests
  • Pay attention to assault timers and keep an eye out for Vol’dun assaults
  • Do every world quest whether you have the emissary or not

For a while I was doing every WQ with contract, but it’s not worth it 10 per. The contract is still worth it even if you just do voldun dailies, though.

Usually I’ll at least clear out voldun and Zandalar, netting me like an extra 100 or so every day, which isn’t bad. I’m about 4.5k into revered currently, so I should make it just fine.

The only thing I’m not really doing is the Darkmoon Faire thing.

If you still need rep when the faire comes back up in two weeks, the 10% buff is worth the 3 minute trip to get it.

Also, good thing I just logged in to check on things! Honorbound warmode quests just popped a bit ago in Voldun! Hot dang, gotta get all those done before work!

Actually no this isn’t true. All they need is a connection to the emerald dream. Which could be induced by a pre existing druid to any race. Trolls just have Gonk. Zandalari trolls have been druids for some time but Darkspear only got it recently.

Yeah no not a fan of race lock, really can’t stand gender lock. If It has gender lock I won’t even entertain the game.

Another to add to the list is the upcoming anniversary event, which also comes with a rep/exp buff for its duration.

Just need 10.5k rep.

I have everything i need except my race change half way there should have it before 8.3 drops going a male fox ftw!

I just jumped on the PTR to check out Vulpera. They are amazing!

Checking out the transmog, just about everything looks amazing on them, even stuff I’d consider junk on other races. And the hats, my goodness, the head gear works so well with them, even the old wide brimmed hats have been modified and look great.

And then look at the trash gnomes. My word they’re repulsive.

I think them not having hair is why most hats/helms look good on them.

It’s like the devs aren’t even trying to hide their contempt for Alliance players.

At this point the only reason I’m still playing this character is farming transmog for my vulpera. And mount runs.
