Yet another lying streamer. I’m not watching that video to give him views. But I can read the summary and comments, and asking people to abuse the reporting system is a violation of the rules.
A silence in this case is a squelch. That is how that system works, which was set up to primarily address gold spammers, but others can get hit with it too. Especially when they encourage a lot of people to report them.
The messaging has changed over the years. When it first came out it was only for 24 hours and may be reviewed by staff. That was the initial version though, and it has functions mostly as it has been intended to. The duration on the silence has been increased to be a more effective tool to help stop gold spam and other illicit messages.
He’s also lucky he didn’t receive a stronger penalty for abuse of the reporting system.
Got it. So mass reporting can result in an auto 7 day silence. This is what people have been trying to say.
That’s the cool thing about evidence like this. You don’t have to take anyone’s word for it, you can test it out yourself.
If the report system was being abused, then it was by the people reporting him. They didn’t get actioned. Never mind that there’s nothing in the TOS that prohibits you from saying “report me.” That’s ridiculous.
Yes and no. The squelch system has been in place for a long time and we have not stated otherwise. What a lot of people are trying to correct is the false narrative that is often used that everything is automated and there is AI answering tickets. That has and continues to be false.
That isn’t to say that we’re not going to be leveraging new technologies to help, where it makes sense, but we’re not really there yet.
I think I’ve covered everything I can. In the interest of preventing another back and forth I’m going to lock this one.
