Hi there,
I recently received a 2 week suspension on my World of Warcraft account. It fell under the umbrella of RMT / Botting, neither of which I’ve engaged in. I have maybe 200 gold across 11 characters which was earned from light questing, GDKP runs, and a bit of boosting. None of my friends I ran GDKP’s with have been suspended, so it got me to thinking it could be due to my location. I am an expat living in Indonesia and I regularly use ExitLag to lower my ping due to my networks poor routing standards. ExitLag selects the fastest possible network, usually placing me somewhere in the US. I wouldn’t be surprised if contantly swapping between US and Indonesia has triggered something in your system.
I would really appreciate some clarity on this account action as I have 11 max level SoD characters and 10 max level Dragonflight characters on this account, and I was very excited for the phase 2 release.
Thanks,
Brad
More then likely its the GDKP runs alot of that gold isnt legit its bough thru third part all u can do is apeal.
Just for clarity GDKP are allowed for now but that doesnt mean that there not gona scrutinize the gold thats passed around and when S2 hits GDKP wont be allowed at all.
You don’t know where that gold is coming from, but we’ve seen many suspensions and bans of late because people have run GDKPs and been on the receiving end of tainted gold.
It has absolutely NOTHING to do with VPN.
Not yet, at least. Investigations take time and just because someone hasn’t been dinged yet doesn’t mean they’re getting away scott free.
Oh this is going to be fun to see where this goes
Blizzard has been taking action against those who received tainted gold from GDKP’s that was the result of RMT. That likely is the case and the ban likely will stand.
VPN’s do not get you banned.
Suspensions and bans for tainted gold have been happening pretty steadily for a couple of months now. This isn’t anything new. People are just being more vocal about being sanctioned with Phase 2 looming.
Actualy weve seen alot of the bans being lifted never discourage people from not apealing unless a blue says odds are its gona be uphead always apeal.
I always encourage people to go to CS (as it speeds up the process) and post when I see them talk about being banned in general forums. I just like to watch and see what happens in CS.
So funny thing this isnt a contact point with GMS this can only be handled by tickets GMs dont come here this is more of a player to player help desk. While the blues here can do alot its not there jobs to answer tickets.
What happens in CS is that they get told to appeal. And perhaps they hear the explanation about illicit gold in GDKP pots.
Probably more productive than General Discussion, but I don’t see how it could be especially entertaining.
Because Orlyia is awesome and It’s entertaining for me at least, maybe im the weird one.
Constant ‘teleporting’ around the world via VPN can often raise red flags - but that alone isn’t an issue for WoW. If one needs to use a VPN - it is recommended to use the same one all the time so that doesn’t happen. Of course, if it’s dynamic as you seem to be describing, that won’t help much either.
This wasn’t anything to do with VPNs.
This is key. VPNs are not “supported” for Blizzard games, but they are not against the rules. Not supported means Blizz won’t help you set them up, and if they cause an issue with the game, they won’t change the game or offer support to help fix it.
VPNs can trigger some of the flags and security systems, esp if you don’t have an Authenticator on the account. ALONE though, key word, they don’t usually result in an account action, certainly not for RMT. Even changing locations would not result in illicit gold appearing in an account.
Blizz uses a lot more than just the log in location when looking for prohibited activity.
That said, anyone using a VPN should make sure they try to use the same one from the same location if they can. Also keep an Authenticator on the account. It reduces security lockouts and helps avoid issues.
I didn’t know this about VPN. Orlyia & Mirasol thx for sharing.
