Removing the ability to kick is probably not a good idea, but they absolutely should have removed the 30 minute deserter double penalty from it.
Getting kicked by 3 randos, usually for stupid reasons, is mildly annoying. Allowing them the ability to lock you out of playing the game for 30 minutes is an awful design flaw.
Entire kick system has zero friction for the kick. With mplus, they can kick someone, but it scuffs their key, so people only get kicked if they’re really really bad, and if they finish 4 man, the 5th still gets credit. But with dungeon finder, the group can kick, get priority fill, and carry on their merry way without any cost.
Alternative solution would be for blizzard to pull a square and start banning people who kick for poor play, instead of people actively disrupting the group. Works well over there, you don’t see the sort of toxic behavior toward new players in ff14 that you see here.

Honestly, don’t know if it matters. I got my partner to play a little. She’s not just new to this game, she was largely new to computer games too, having only played Valheim before it.
She was just verbally abused in both battlegrounds and dungeons alike. If she wasn’t going to be kicked, she was trashed for half an hour. Removing the ability to kick a new player isn’t going to change the toxic community.

You dont provid any context on how bad she was doing. If she’s literally just not participating I dont blame anyone for kicking her.
What is wrong with you people this is time walking it’s literally the easiest content in the entire game. Like yeah mythic 0 and even heroic dungeons in the endgame people should be doing research… But time walking? If you are kicking people from that there is something wrong with you you can literally clear that by ignoring every mechanic and pulling boss to boss while half asleep.

Find a community or guild that works with new players and helps them out.
Wow made easy is a community that really does help.
Also create a Macro you hit that will say your new and learning most will be understanding if they know.
Typically I’ll vote to kick if they go afk and don’t say anything and we just looked a boss with it them.
Or as a tank if DPS is pulling more then I’m prepared for.
Aren’t we talking about the super easy time walking dungeons? I mean even with 4 people you steamroll through it. Why does it have to be that serious?

The other day I was dropped into a dungeon that I had never been to and where the other player had just bailed.
Everyone else was up ahead and I got smothered. The tank laughed and I got kicked.
I must have been holding up the speed run. Seriously

I’ve been reporting people kicking out others, sometimes more than 3 players in one dungeon, just because they want to. Including experience players. They are usually tanks and sometimes fps. But tanks right now are ruling and running like they don’t need any heal or DPS support.

Once we did mythic Halls of Atonement with a healer that completely ignored every single mechanic and pulled every mob by running in a straight line instead following the party.
Every his mistake was commented without hate, with explanations of mechanics and routes. All of that was ignored.
When he did wipe the entire group 3 times on last boss by not covering a beam, he was kicked. Immediately after that, he whispered the leader (me) something like “how dare you i’m just new to the game”.
Vote kick is necessary exactly for this kind of players.

Tell her to go to an RP realm and join a lax guild. I have spent the vast majority of my wow time on one and will never regret it. Even with the realm smashing of like servers the people are THE most chill. Just some food for thought.

Or people can just get over themselves. I mean we all were “bad” at some point. Hell some people never really get better. But helping someone through low end dungeons or TW isn’t a big deal. Unless you’re doing high keys or raiding beyond normal mode, there is a lot of cushion to give newer players.

Its funny how everyone in this thread is like hey, your friend needs to learn how to play, we cant be expected to carry your friend through everything - she has an obligation to learn her character to be a contributing member of the group.
But you put those same people into pvp and its all “this is just random pvp you dont have to be gud”
Please. All of you. Heed your own advice or stop trippin about what people should know but dont.

I stopped wanting to do raids for mostly getting kicked and replaced on the fly. What’s the fun on that? Good luck with Dragonflight it was fun while it lasted.
Tank logged off and i didnt even notice lol i was just zonned in healing pt had an entire conversation about how sad they where without a tank wondering if should remake im just running around in my own world
But nobody cares about pvp.
Oh so youve met these people im talking about lol
so many night elves in this thread…
removing for new players or just anyone in general could cause issues as others have mentioned.
Since they are your friend instead of feeding to the wild, give em hand , help em get used to the game and take them places.Be that friend.
I disagree here. I think there are a lot more people here who are more understanding and willing to help to those who would have a “New Player” icon next to their name. I would also add that after x amount of time played that they cannot use the icon anymore as I know, sadly, there will be people who use it to troll and wipe groups and then say, “Sorry I am new”.
But, back to the point, I know I would have no problem helping someone in a dungeon if they had a new player icon.

I would recommend to show her how to start a premade.
“Timewalking with a New Player. Plan to go slow, and may need instructions.”
While timewalkers generally don’t look up premades, i would definitely do this given the chance.
