Im big into ttrpgs I’ve have a weekly D&D game for the past six years …and yeah this high elf thing is kinda nerdy now.
Void elves have a high elf customization and you can easily RP as one. Blizzard should not waste time adding them to the game.
A lot of people say this but it’s impossible to find the original source.
I have read the actual quote is …
“ The reason for Blood Elves as a Horde race is because when expanding to an Asian market, in their culture most of them do not like the idea of playing a particular monstrous or un-noble race like the Horde consists of in vanilla, so in TBC they added the Blood Elves so they could have a “beautiful” race to expand to that demographic on the Horde side.”
However I cannot find who this is attributed to, so any source would be cool.
Was it one of the lead Devs?
Otherwise it’s just My mother’s uncles best friend’s uncles daughter said…
Actual citation I have of Blizzard intending High Elves to go to the Horde is as follows…
"At the same time, we’ve added totally new newbie areas for the Blood Elves and Draenei so veterans can have a new low-level experience. But it’s not like we’re pocketing the Blood Elves and Draenei in their own areas and they’re locked out of the rest of the game. After level 20 or so we very quickly start breadcrumbing them all over the world and integrating them with the rest of the quests. One of the big fears we had was that if we added these cool new areas, the rest of your old world is empty all of a sudden.’
"That’s something we talked about four and five years ago_."

'Blood Elves were chosen as the Horde expansion race in the Burning Crusade because designers were thrilled with how well Samwise had redesigned the classic wood elves with the night elves. And they knew that, “one day, high elves are going to have to get a facelift, too.
“I don’t think anyone has abused high elves to this degree,” Metzen said."

Blood Elves were planned for the Horde for quite some time.
Maybe Blizzard shouldn’t have shoehorned an Alliance race in the ugly faction to try to solve faction imbalance.
Factions was a stupid idea all along. Terrible mistake.
Void elves are my favorite race. High elves are not as desirable to me. It was a farce to give high elves to the horde back in BC, but the damage was done. Rather than creat a new high elf race, perhaps they could give void elves an option to not turn blue. I personally love to see the blue skin.
The original quote is actually this:
That’s a good thing, because they aren’t High Elves anymore, which makes the request valid.
No, they shouldn’t have done this.
well void elf use to be there own thing until some one around BFA keep rail roading begging asking for High elf… to the point they Devs say “F it” and give htem high elf skin, and such since aelra can go high elf normaly not have her void elf form all time.
(I mean… it was questionable why she not blue berry elf at the time but what ever)
now we got many flavor of elf, tall, short, Demonic, Arcane, Nature, Void, Holy, Fel, Blood.
rambles on many type of elf that lead into trolls types
Truly, though, saying “I vaguely remember…” isn’t an ‘official developer statement.’
I also remember hearing, back in 2005/ 05, that Night Elf Hunters were put into the game for all the Dev’s Girlfriends, lol.

@Aldo_WoW_420 Blood Elves were introduced to the Horde for multiple reasons. Aesthetic diversity was one. Eastern Kingdom’s horde base was another. Thematic connection to the expansion awas as well. 10:46am - 24 Jan 2019.
Void Elves are perfect, thanks!
Horde can go to gilneas after helping reclaim it and horde can go to belameth after helping save it. I wouldn’t say it couldn’t happen that smc goes neutral. Had horde not been allowed in any alliance city/hub I’d say it wouldn’t happen, buuuut here we are.
But they did give us High Elves. i am posting on one.
Eh I’d have forbidden Horde from entering Gilneas and Belameth but fully allowed Alliance free reign over Horde cities purely because Horde lost the war.
Another¹²³ Alliance High Elf thread.
And it is just Tuesday.
I mean, the Forsaken are still responsible for the Prince’s death, plus theyre the ones that destroyed Gilneas to begin with, at best they might just tolerate them, but not be like friendly.
High elves are boring. They’re just another “standard fantasy elf”. At least Blood and Void elves have interesting parts about them which make them different from the “standard fantasy elf”.
For me… Void elves are my favorite WoW elves. If I could race change to a Void elf, I’d do it so fast the internet would catch on fire.
what political divide, they were exiled and live on a space rock in the void.
That’s like saying “The Nightborne should have gone to the Alliance so they could have two types of Night Elves”. Not sure folks really stand back and look at these posts as they are written. The one that would have made more sense would have been to send the Dark Iron Dwarves to the Horde (so they could have dwarves, even though now they have Earthen) and send the sweet, innocent, helpful, recently bathed Vulpera to the Alliance to work side by side with the Gnomes who are also ingenious.
I had a longshot wish of them just being a neutral allied race. Love the warhammer 40k vibes of the arathi empire. Don’t enjoy playing as alliance (stormwind sucks idk how you guys live like that)
Stormwind is fine, I prefer Ironforge it’s more cozy.
Orgrimmar is literally just a dirt canyon and Silvermoon has like 4 collective polygons… (For now.)
It was my understanding that Void Elves were Blood Elves that got the boot from Silvermoon by flirting with the Void. Then Alleria came along and also got the boot after approaching the Sunwell causing a bad reaction with the Light of the Sunwell.
Alleria met up with Umbric as they skipped off to Telogrus. Some other stuff happened and Alleria helped these Void dabbled Blood Elves resist the whispering madness of the Void. Soon they invited other Blood Elves to hang out and learn at Telogrus and their numbers swelled.
