Blood Elf-players aren’t their “own thing”, they are a race brought over to the Horde by Chinese player’s request (we have official developer statements for this). Originally they wanted to counter this with another popular race for the Alliance, Pandaren, but due licensing issues this fell flat during TBC (we also have sources for this).
The Blood Elves were needed to even out the player numbers on Horde. Blizzard will likely make the Blood and Void Elves a neutral race with Midnight, which would be the best solution to this mess.

I doubt thats ever happening.
The purge of Dalaran burned all chances of the Blood Elves ever joining the Alliance.
And the Void Elves have made it very clear they dont trust the Horde and would like to bring Silvermoon back into the Alliance.
Aka, neither wants anything to do with the opposing faction.

It’s just a stupid story element written by people. This has no effect or value in a discussion, especially, with the storyline now going forward with Alliance/Horde having stopped fighting each other.
This doesn’t matter. The story can be formed how they see it fit.

The last thing we need is for them to ignore stablished lore.
We already saw how horrendously this went with both BFA and SL.

The Horde could have kept them but they were asked to leave Silvermoon because the void doesn’t go well with the Sunwell and that Alleria did like Sylvanas for the forsaken, she saved them from the madness of the void and in exchange they joined the Alliance.

Yeah theres that, the Velfs were indeed exiled by the Horde.
So even LESS reason for them to ever wanna join them.

Blizzard: “No, cause Garithos.”

seriously, why can’t Blizzard just give the Alliance High Elves already?

Blue eyed Blood Elves are essentially High Elves. But they should be in the Alliance.
Should have given the Alliance High Elves with a customisation available to Horde Blood Elves and Alliance High Elves that gives you the visuals of the void elf, since canonically that’s what they are, they are a recruited volunteer force from both High Elves and Blood Elves.
But really it should have been the krokuun broken draenei that were the allied race since that’s who you did the quests with to unlock the allied race recruitment scenario.
Doing quests with the Army of Light makes sense for unlocking Lightforged draenei but Void elves required Argussian reach rep? a faction of Draenei?

Because they will be the reason for a massive faction imbalance. The moment they swap over to the Alliance, it’s over for the Horde.
We already have seen this on RP-servers, who can use Total RP3 for custom race tags. AD-EU had a Blood Elf exodus to the Alliance, imagine what will happen if the official High Elves become available to the Alliance.

Valen should have never saved the Blood Elves. It takes away the grittiness that pushed the Blood Elves to the Horde and It would make the Void Elves even more entrenched because their addiction lead to the Void.
The High Elves don’t exist anymore because the nature of the Sunwell changed. In fact the “remaining” High Elves only resided in Dalaran where they could still draw upon the acane energy of the city. Which leads me to believe they are royally @#$%&!.
Perhaps what Valen did will bite the Blood Elves in the back and the Void Elves will have to come in and save their bacon. We’ll see what happens in Midnight.
I wish all you elves would just jump in a pit and bare knuckle brawl till there was just one of you left. Looking like a stepped-on grape.
Then I hope a giant with low standards happens by and eats you.

High elves are more a political faction nowadays than a race/sub-race. Moreover, those that sided with the Alliance have more often done it because they had family or knew people from the Alliance. We saw Elisande critique of them during the Nighthold being that they’ve been diminishing their lineage by meddling with humans. Which now lead us to half-elves which seem something that we get now with more customizations.

Yeah if you started playing in 2017, there’s pretty much no way for you to understand just how deep seated and long term the Helf requests have been.
I don’t hate Void Elves, but Blizzard should’ve known that they wouldn’t quiet the High Elf requests. And the options they added to belves and Void Elves don’t fit the bill either. Eventually, Blizzard will just fold and give High Elves to the Alliance. And, honestly, if they didn’t want to go that route they shouldn’t have kept High Elves aligned with the Alliance around in lore. They could’ve easily said that every living High Elf became a Blood Elf and any dissenters to Kael’thas’s demonic influence decided to remain neutral rather than stay in the Alliance.
But they didn’t do that, so, it’s really on them.

Gosh I miss the helf war threads
This is a funny argument to me because even though I have no intention of playing an alliance high elf (I’d sooner play a void elf tbh), I know for a fact that them adding High Elves as a playable AR would beat out several existing AR in terms of playerbase and revenue added via race changes.
And at the end of the day, potential popularity kind of wins out over your hang ups.

Void Elf should have been a class that’s available to some races and be known as Rift Warden, Riftwalker, or Darkwarden

They are in several cities present. And numbers have no impact on being a player race. Otherwise you wouldn’t be a Void Elf with canonically only 5-20 people.

Why be more invested in strict lore accuracy, when the company legally responsible for owning this fictional world isn’t?
How can anyone be compelled by a narrative that contradicts itself, changes every two years, and becomes more and more neediest sanitized with each new iteration?
It isn’t because the story is too good to pass up. It isn’t Because this universe is hand made to be scaled into player fiction, regardless of how deeply an enthusiast might study it we will still wind up with goats from space, kung fu pandas, dev fanfic self inserts, cheap retcons etc.
We have High Elves. Just play pretend. You aren’t cool for being a goalie. There’s no net here and besides the ice has long ago melted.
