Void elves customization

There’s several of my friends who want the color options too but we disagree civilly, they also note the validity the visual distinction argument has and iirc basically would understand if that’s the reason it doesn’t get done.

On the flip side I get people want it, but I would hope Blizzard leans on other Void options then to completely allow Void Elves to look like a BE which whether it’s Gnome natural colors or Human natural colors it doesn’t matter where the colors are pulled from the end result is the same.

But yes being civil is always number one honestly in all conversations :hugs:

that sounds disingenuous. its like saying orcs never used war paint or tattooed themselves because the customization option wasnt there the past 15 years

Basically more races need more options period. Humans, night elves, and to a lesser extent Draenei made out like bandits.

When it comes to void elf hair colors I really don’t think a bunch more need to be added (and certainly other races that got frankly shafted during the initial pass (and I DO include blood elves and especially nightborne in that) should come first.

For now? Just give jet black and white. I know others are clamoring for red, brown, blonde, etc…but it doesn’t really fit a void theme to me. Void elves feel like they should follow a jewel-tone color palette (though I think the two-toned/glowing ends idea other people have suggested sounds neat).

Other people mentioned a toggle for the tentacles that could decrease or increase, for those that want more void tentacle goodness the tentacles.

As for blood elves…if Blizzard has to go with more jewelry (not a huge fan of what was already given, but occasionally I’ll use one of the bracelets), how about more color options (the Dranei got a much wider range of jewelry color options) when it comes to both metal and jewels? And it’s 2021, Blizzard, men wear jewelry too (look at the rings you have Denathrius wearing).

*If you want void elves to have some of the blood elf hairstyles, then fair is fair and give blood elves some of the void elf hairstyles de-voided.

*Give blood elves farstrider/runic tattoos for the ranger/magister theme.

*Give them scar options to reflect the fact they’ve been allies with warrior races for years now

  • Red eye options for those who want to RP their blood elf as a dark ranger or san’layn.

Undead elves should be strictly forsaken, not blood elf customization

In a perfect RPG world? Sure. But I’m not holding my breath and waiting for the day when Blizzard will give us an entirely separate body type option under a character race selection on the character creation screen (if that were possible we could actually get forest troll options, taunka, undead elves for Forsaken, skinny kul tiran, broken draenei, etc…)

I mean talk about WOWs worst lack of customization… the forsaken. Who literally should have every single race available to them.

This is a weird way to jab at people who are annoyed at Blizzard’s nickle and dime approach to customization, to be honest. The customization we got was a start at most, and Void Elves it was particularly odd because they… only need to add hair colours. That’s literally it, but they stopped short.

And let’s be clear, many of the customizations that would make people happy do not take long to implement, any dev saying otherwise is misleading you. After Blizzon there were many in the community who work with the models that debunked just how little effort, say, transferring hair colour, or a hairstyle, from one race to the other is. So when it comes to, say, Void Elves, people are naturally going to be confused at that last, tiny step being taken.

This isn’t a jab at the art team, that said. It’s been clear to me for a while that the art team is held hostage by the gameplay team, and the gameplay team is horribly disorganized.

But to say it’s because of High Elf fans that Blizzard will never give us more stuff is hilariously stupid. It’s essentially like someone asking for blueberry pancakes, the chef making them normal pancakes, with just the blueberries missing, the person complaining, and then you loudly going “Well now they’re never going to make you breakfast again!!!”

I gave it a solid 24 hours after the claim was made but maybe the video wasn’t up to the standard of making a point and they just dropped it.

Still such a curiosity to me as a concept if I’m honest.

Now in my defense, a lot of orc artwork gave em war paint even back then, and they started letting me have it via npc skins or items made to look like war paint (usually for the shirt slot of the paper doll model) while the only time I recall in game thalassian a having paint was a rune on Koltira’s model in Wrath and Rommath’s arms (who is a mage not a ranger but then again his whole getup was npc exclusive)

Uh, whether or not it was in game it does appear in some fairly important art.

First off, I shoulda specified in game, second those are runic tattoos not “ranger paint”, and third, I never said I was against the idea, I just don’t care at this point nor is it something I “demand” for void elves.

Honestly if they add like one natural style for each gender and a thousand voidy styles I would call that a win, a double win if they added orange and blonde tones, a full beard for males a triple, and if the male style was long, non balding, and had bangs while the female got like Anna like braided pig tails I’d be set.

Edit: personally I’d wanna see some fel scarring on blood elves considering their history, but I doubt that’ll ever happen . . . The darker fel elves thing has been left in the dust in favor of light elves shrug

Ranger paint appeared in Warcraft 2 on generic elf rangers.

I know, I was speaking for WORLD of Warcraft not Warcraft 1-3. If I was I’d being saying thalassian should have druids, and orcs should still be savage demonic monsters whilst questioning what happened to the humans of draenor Garona brought up in a book a long time ago.

Those are things that have been subsequently retconned. Ranger paints (along with a long list of characters who have been resurrected for WoW from Warcraft 2), never were and appeared in a main series Warcraft game. It’s a perfectly legitimate request.

Yeah I know it’s hard for Pro HE fans to give validity to the visual distinction argument. But you can’t turn around and then notice Blizzard specifically leaving visual distinction and being like “huh that’s weird”.

It’s called visual distinction, it’s important to the players arguing against you getting those hair colors and the whole idea that “you got a start” with the new non void skin tones severely downplays it being a huge deal like “it’s a start” lol what

Then I guess it shouldn’t happen at all then. Sorry to be cold, but immersion is considered a pillar of gaming and an undead playable paladin breaks that.

I never said it wasn’t mate . . . think yer mincing my words here.

Okay I think you’re reading a far more aggressive tone out of me than I intend, m8. I’m just saying that it’s appearance in Warcraft 2 is in no way comparable to demonic orcs or elven druids because it hasn’t been specifically changed or retconned.

In fact, ranger paints have been confirmed. Alleria had ranger paint in WC2 because all rangers had it. Alleria has ranger paint in modern WoW, confirming the concept exists.
