Yes there are BEs and HEs hanging out in the starting zone now.
This is where it gets messy. If I am the VE leader, I can “recruit” these elves to sit down and study the void, but they can never actually become void elves because as we know currently that was a one time fluke. Same way a BE will never be a HE because of the sequence of events after they changed their name. Being a BE means more than just swapping their title, physically and culturally.
But Blizz expanded on both to give players more freedom to step outside of those parameters. BE players can pretend to be HEs and so can VE players. However, they need to expand on the VE customization options at least a bit to actually deliver on that idea if they are actually sincere when they say they want to give players the tools to do so. Then the compromise is fair on both sides.
We wont ever get the story or the true recognition that HE fans have wanted since before BEs were even a thing, but at least players can have their own story. It’s the same way that WH fans wont ever get that full recognition either.
I’m not saying it’s necessarily as easy as “All horde aligned short fleshy-colored elves call themselves blood elves and we probably can too for simplicity’s sake if nothing else”, but it seems like that’s, at the very least, a pretty firm guideline.
Conversely, every elf that calls itself a high elf (or has a high elf nameplate) is Alliance aligned or neutral. Again, as far as I can think of.
…BRB, rolling an EVEN EDGIER Demon Hunter who insists on calling herself a high elf to double down on the “NO ONE UNDERSTANDS ME AND IT’S NOT JUST A PHASE MOOOOOOOOOMMMMM”.
I missed out not playing a demon hunter when they were brand new and extra angsty.
Hehehe, no jab taken Midare, I´m well aware about the rogue class “tropes”. We and the Warlocks are the “scum of society” as Rfeann kindly put it back in MoP, ergo some “edginess” is quite expected. Heck, the “edginess” coupled with the blatant lack of care IS what made Lorash and amazingly WELL written character as far as rogue stuff is concerned… he wasn´t the boring typical “CIA esque ripoff BUT good” he WAS a rogue: inmoral, smart especially in regards to “street ways”, a little bit cowardly (but then again staying to die is NOT smart), outrageous, impulsive when it counted and controlled when appropiate.
People HATED him… just like they HATE us rogues when we feel like ganking you guys. I have never found more outrage against a class in this game, literally people loses their temper when a rogue attacks and kill them (doesn´t happen with druids or other classes but especifically WITH rogues. Must be the loss of control on your characters caused by the rogue toolkit).
I agree, and I believe the implication is there, although I wonder to what extent. Is it simply confirming that High elves are joining the Void elves, along with Blood elf Scholars? Did they intentionally leave out the fair skin, blue eye customizations on Void elves? Will we see an example of one in the future?
I might look into reading it now just because, but overall just in game exposure and the stories I have read I still admire Lor’themar a lot. I remember being a kid and disappointed with Kael arguably I started at the end of wrath so his story woulda been over but I didn’t know that lol I was playing it all for the first time and I remembered him from WC3
It’s not like, a masterpiece of modern literature or anything, but it’s got a lot of juicy blood elf lore and it’s always best to read the material for yourself instead of getting it filtered through other peoples’ perspectives.
Well, at least in the cases where it’s available and free.
It’s also not super long or… messy. It’s not as bad as committing to reading the War of the Ancients trilogy all while knowing the events transpired without our time traveling occasional POV characters somehow originally.
There’s just one question: If they come from a small group of Silvermoon Exiles, how are they an Allied Race? Where do the numbers come from?
“They start out as a small group,” Danuser continues. “But it’s natural as other elves have found out about them — elves who are interested in new sources of magic, power, or opportunities — would see if they could undergo a similar process. They’re not … recruiting , necessarily, but they’re open to those who show a similar interest.”
So for the people that still think newly created Void Elves are from the original batch rather than being new, this proves that wrong.
This is not confirming anything, and is incredibly vague. As of now, the only thing confirmed about Void elves is that they are previously Blood elves who left Quel’thalas to study the Void.
I don’t doubt they’re implied, but that’s not the same as a confirmation.
So you jump from vague open ended statement that maybe something is going on to straight up this is what happening and if you don’t think so you’re wrong?
I’m not saying it won’t happen, but that statement is hardly proof one way or the other of anything.
The question asked was how the Void Elves were gaining numbers to validate being playable, and the response is that High Elves and Blood Elves are hearing about them and visiting to learn and join.
It’s even shown in game with High Elves and Blood Elves actively coming through portals if you wait around.
The fact that it specified that they’re looking for a way to possibly repeat the process, and that Void elves aren’t really recruiting is what makes their recruitment status vague. There’s nothing explicitly stating anyone has joined since the original event, regardless of who we find lingering around the rift.
So since Lanesh the Steelweaver is a blue eyed blood elf and when asked in a tweet about that character Danuser said that he’s aware of the character and they don’t want to talk about him because they don’t want to spoil that story, that means it’s confirmed that say blue eyed elves that haven’t turned to the void are deciding they should become blood elves now?
It leans more to them becoming Void Elves than it doesn’t.
Like I said, he is effectively saying that Void Elves are gaining numbers to have a regularly growing population to validate being playable. If they weren’t becoming Void Elves, he wouldn’t have said that which would mean they weren’t growing in numbers and therefore not valid to become playable.
Q: Where do the numbers come from?
A: Elves are actively joining them.
It’s really as simple as that.
They can still be void elves without void skin/hair, as we’ve discussed multiple times already.
