It’s not exaggerative at all there’s mock ups on the older threads in these forums. But if you wish to ignore it go ahead. I don’t have anything to prove since it all exists on the internet and we’re past the model/looks issue anyway at this point.
That’s a nice joke, thanks for the laugh. They were the most criticized Allied Race released due to their shallowness of lore, which to this day hasn’t been expanded on.
Again, how did we when no one even realized VE were coming till right up their announcement at Blizzcon? It’s Blizzard that decided it all at their initial release.
Not hand-waving anything, but acting like BEs own all the hair color shades in the universe of black/brown/blonde doesn’t make sense at all since other races have those hair colors and I don’t see these same people trying to tell Blizzard to get rid of other races having those hair colors as it ruins the BE monopoly on those.
Ely Cannon stating they’ve given HE customizations to both VE and BE and saying , ‘ultimately we may do more, but decided to give a few HE customizations for now’ is him stating that. If you can’t comprehend that’s what he’s saying then there’s nothing further to say there.
“Real and valid problems like trying to keep hair colors”. Please, if the only way you can feel special is by denying others options when Blizzard literally said SL customizations is the start of increasing diversity within each race’s options, then we’ll simply let Blizzard be the judge on that. Just like they deemed sharing options of HE customization like blue eyes and human skin tones to be the solution to the “real and valid problem” that BE fans of trying to deny it to Alliance players.
At the end of the day BE fans need to accept that Blizzard decided sharing was the way to go. If an individual still has issues with that then they need to make peace with themselves, and it isn’t anyone else’s responsibility to do that for them.
Reason I am super confident brown/blonde/black/white hair color will come to Void Elves is because out of the 22 playable races in the game, 21 of them have either some or all of those hair colors.
I doubt the uniqueness of VE rests on their hair color options.
You’re right. People don’t need to accept anything, they can let it continue to bother them if they wish to. But accepting it would help in moving on from it.
Too late, I already consider them to be that and I have Blizzard’s blessing to play out that fantasy should I wish to, just like Blood Elves can play out a high elf fantasy too with their new options - you know, as stated by Blizzard.
Peruse the hairstyles in the pics there, there’s some that aren’t tentacle-based. They’ve been there since VE were added in Legion. I’m surprised you didn’t know this. Baldness was added way later.
You’re talking about the various “Look, we can muck with a similar model and make it look almost identical to the blood elf model” mockups there? That they only did because they didn’t think they’d just be straight up given the same model?
Other than the fact that you’re now demanding the last bit of distinction between the two be erased and make it possible to make an un-void touched void elf?
Are you doing the thing again where you take a statement that’s kinda friendly towards your point and tweaking it a bit to make it say what you want it to say?
Void elf void stuff increased diversity of options, all this would do is duplicate already existing options more than they already have.
People coming up with mock ups doesn’t exclude the large portion of people who did want a cloned race of the Blood elves. This is not a compelling argument in the slightest. It also changes absolutely nothing.
They’re also the most popular allied race in the game. Hmm.
Blood elves are natural born Thalassian Elves, they are the “parent” race, Void Elves are not. You are an allied race attempting to completely emulate it’s parent race while ignoring the fact that those void distinctions are the only reason the race was introduced at all.
If you remove 90% of those visual distinctions, what remains plays a larger role in retaining that distinction. It does not matter if those hair colors are used on other races because they are not Thalassian elves, they don’t not threaten the visual identity to Blood elves. Void elves are no distinct from Blood elves because you want them to be High elves, they’re distinct from Blood elves because they’re infused with the Void.
Out of context since he was addressing customizations at large, and not specifically for the Void elves. We may get more customizations in the future, but that does not suggest they’re going to be HE in theme, or relate to it at all.
Yes, since that “hair” color is the last remaining “diversity” between Void elves and Blood elves. It’s the "only way " because the other distinctions have already been availed. Trying to focus on just the hair color isn’t a honest argument, because it relies heavily on you ignoring all the other visuals you’ve already poached from the race.
All we can do is let Blizzard decide in the end, but let’s stop this false argument on the forums where we try to paint the “hair color” as some trivial detail, only because it’s the last remaining theme you’ve yet to take.
To be clear you only feel special by poaching others visual theme and that rests entirely on you denying other player requests for visual distinction Blizzard themselves left in place to remain
Then go in-game and take a look at the hairstyles yourself… not sure what you are trying to prove by staying ignorant about Void Elves already having non-tentacle hair options outside of bald. The males have 4 I believe and females have 4 too that don’t have any tentacles in them.
Precedent already exists for ‘non-void based hair’.
i love how their big takeaway from ely cannon saying they had a big discussion about blood/void elves sharing customization, is only the “we may do more/anything is possible in the future” platitude is what matters
now was the time to justify it with all the sharing. they allowed some overlap but declined a full clone and their reasoning for denying it will still be there in 5 years when they have time to make 4 new haircuts for each void elf gender and copy paste ear length for an allied race that has more unique options then the parent race its a cheap knockoff of
He was talking about BOTH BEs and VEs in that specific question and answer. Here is the FULL QUOTE for context and then you can continue to interpret it however it makes you the most happy.
According to a dev interview Ion gave several months ago, Blood Elves were originally unintended to have blue eyes in Shadowlands, but later on that decision was reversed following team discussions. If the art department was involved, what was the reasoning that led to blue eyes being added for Void Elves and Blood Elves?
This is another place where there was a race, High Elves, in the game which hadn’t really been represented on player characters. Blood Elves were the closest, but had felt green eyes. It was an opportunity where we had a number of elven races, and we could tie it back to their roots, letting players choose where they want to align and what fantasy to play out. We did have a lot of discussion about it, ultimately we might do more in the future, but for now we’re providing the option to have a few High Elf customizations available.
The entire question has to do with BE and VE. His entire answer is regarding BE/VE and High Elf customizations.
I remember when people said Ion’s ‘platitude is what matters’ too back when he said maybe HEs could happen. Thankfully we got that dealt with the blue eyes and skin tones on VEs.
