Void elves and blood elves need more visual distinction

I mean the literal DEVELOPER Ely Canon said that these options are High Elf options for our characters, but I guess the opinion of a random forumer and not the literal person working on the game matters more! :joy:

And you wonā€™t get it :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Because High Elves are an Alliance race. Humans are not a Horde race.

If we had been asking for Alliance Orcs this whole time we never would have gotten it because it has no basis in lore and reality. Alliance High Elves do. Hence why we got them! :two_hearts:

Thatā€™s because Void Elves weā€™re never meant to existā€¦they have no lore because they were literally created on the spot as a way to avoid adding High Elvesā€¦ that clearly had the opposite of their intended result and escalated the issue even moreā€¦ so they gave us High Elf customizationsā€¦ but of course they couldnā€™t just give them to Alliance noā€¦ they had to give them to Horde as well because ā€œscrew the loreā€ they could have given Blood Elves Teal and Blue-Green eyes to show their eye color returning to pre-Fel taint and called it a dayā€¦ leave alliance with blue and only blueā€¦ but noā€¦

I cant rember the quote.
And i know there was a request on this thread or another (there were like 3 threads today) asking for it.

But from what i remember the quote was about giving people the options to RP as a normal high elf.

To me, they are options for void elves that have been less changed by the void.

And if someone wants to RP as a non void high elfā€¦ who cares.
No skin off my back.
Use the given options to give your character whatever story you want.

In a way, even if the name tag said high elf it would all still just be RP

More or less how I feel as well.

I really wish theyā€™d at least add some npc stuff in the Telogrus Rift to show those Wayfarers and Scholars undergoing training on the second island and maybe on the third island or something going through a ritual to become full void elves, but come out with Allerian, Umbrician and a mix type void elves.

That would be nice to show that all those options are for void elves proper (just as much as anyone wanting to rp their high elf or otherwise.) and explain how we make more of ourselves clearly.

Iā€™d also not mind seeing a Dark ranger or two there either just pointing out that some of them returned and joined Alleria and her gang among the Alliance or maaaybe explain that some Void Elves were raised who fell during the war.

Then everything exists in the lore without any contentions at all.

I meanā€¦ I can think of at least two ways to do that convincingly. >.> But I donā€™t think that was your point.

Itā€™s the exact same as how Dwarves got Wildhammer options, Trolls got Sand Troll options, etc.

But because itā€™s High Elves, people (antiā€™s) are pretending itā€™s not valid as if the entire point of many new customizations in SL was to give races sub-race customization options without having to make an entire new race for it

I think i would be a lot more satisfied if they said that those studying at the rift can chose to take on the powes of the void and it affects them to different degrees

Some go full void with blue skin and hair.
Some are unaltered apart from when using the void.

That way everyone wins.

Void elf fans have more lore and story.

Those that want to use void elves as a vesel to play high elves get their options and can RP freely.

And blood elvesā€¦
Well they get nothing but they already lost their uniqueness so yeah.
Maybe one day they can get something awesome themselves for their own.

My theory is that thereā€™s an in-office bet on how long is is before they have to put any effort into void elves.

Iā€™m joking, of course, but a bunch of copy pasted dye job options for a ā€œdistinctā€ race (that was already an unaltered copy of the parent model) and very minimal lore has me feeling stroppy.

Honestly thoughā€¦ likeā€¦ If they said that was so right now Iā€™d be less than surprised. lol

Iā€™m just flabbergasted (not a word I use lightly) that the other 3 Legion allied races got a hefty helping of unique customizationsā€¦

And void elves got more copy paste.

I do appreciate the black hair, to be fair. And my Nightborne (nightbornes? Wine elves) look great.

Yeah itā€™s wildā€¦like at the very least some new unique hairs would have been much appreciatedā€¦

agreeeeed

yes. our collective hive mind dictates arguments /s
all jokes aside it is a bit silly to whoever cares about the allied race options vs options. more options are always good.
i just wish that one fellers idea of a more void void elf went through.

do you mean like - give elves tails?

yessss give me the exact same race again instead of something newww

I like this idea, have them be a neutral starting race with a storyline that takes them through levels 1-10 when they are ā€œhigh elvesā€. They can use this to advance the storyline of the race and explore this schism between them and the alliance and horde. At level 10 you then go with horde/blood or alliance/void. Oh! What if the story involved an election for the office of Regent Lord between the incumbent Lorthemar and his challenger, returning-war-hero Alleria?

They did have distinction at the start of BFA.

How they were meant to be originally. They were mostly former blood elves with some high elves mixed in for fun I suppose whose bodies were radically altered by the void.

They were perfect.

What blizz did is they mixed those players who truly wanted to play as a high elf on alliance side (which I donā€™t have an issue with) but put them with us (which they should not have done).

They should have made high elves a distinct playable race and if that meant giving horde a sixth allied race so be it.

That way high elves would have their own unique racials as well.

isnt high elves something new?
they have a rich backstory and could have killer customization options to distinguish between the two races.
that high elf thread for example had many astonishing customizations

The Void Elf Dark Rangers are meant to be either High or Blood Elf Rangers joining the Alliance.

They are the new Pandaren. The backlash caused Blizzard to abandon the race for now. Everyone could have seen it coming that introducing something what the community does not want will cause friction, drama and hate.

This one is on Blizzard for the incompetent idea of how to release various elf variations. The Void Elves are a neat concept but how they shoehorned them into the game? Absolute madness.

They will get Nathanos-like humans at some point, everything else would make no sense for how often they introduce beautiful undead characters. Itā€™s an insult to the community, like they did it with the Void Elves and Alleria.

This is just your head-canon. Thereā€™s been no verification that this is what was meant in giving Velves Dark Ranger options. Out of respect for Dark Ranger lore, I truly hope that Blizzard never declares this to be a thing.

If Blizz ever touches this, I hope they say Velf Dark Rangers are just Velves risen during the 4th War.

Havenā€™t you played both sides for the quest? The story indicates otherwise:

Dark Ranger Velonara says: Many of the kaldorei raised during the Battle for Darkshore wish to remain here with the dark rangers. But any who choose to depart and rejoin the Alliance are free to do so.

This is in reference to Night Elf Dark Rangers who were explicitly shown during the 4th War campaign. Velves are never touched.

Edit: Or I should say, old-school Dark Ranger High Elves.
