I feel that the speed of the void elf racial and/or time its down should be buffed or just replace it with something else. I have very little use for it besides the occasional time when I use it in pvp but I dont play a ton of pvp. I can also use it sometimes when im going to get pushed back and I can use it to teleport forward but that is also very rare. If it worked as one of the rifts Umbric and Alleria make that would be a lot better maybe like the new Venthyr door of shadows ability but on a longer cooldown and it can portal multiple people. Or simply buff the time its down to a lot longer than 4 seconds. Having it down for even 30 seconds would give it a lot more use as you could you lead a lot of enemies far away and tp back. I would say either make it like Alleria and Umbrics rifts or just buff the time its down to somewhere between 30-60 seconds. Anyone else got any ideas? I would say this might be the worst racial ability and its only balanced out by our passives.
I think the length of time allowed to teleport could be buffed a bit, but past that? No. A teleport is still a teleport which can be stupidly strong in the right hands.
Oh you’re out of position and a beam of death is coming at you? Rift past it. Honestly if shadowmeld wasn’t brokenly OP with dungeon mechanics Id probably go void elf with most of my toons for that teleport.
Yeah I would think blizz would only buff the time but im wishing to make the rifts alleria and umbric make but either would be fine with me.
It is indeed a bit of a gimmick racial. About the one and only time I found it to ever have any meaningful use was during the monk and mage boss in BoD since you could use it to cheese the ring of peace maze. Other than that, it’s totally useless.
I liked that void portal trinket in 8.3, the one where you open a portal and become untargetable but can’t hit anyone back unless they follow you into the portal.
I felt like that would be a much cooler Void Elf racial, but it would probably be a little too OP.
Don’t touch my beloved
signed, my Velf spriest
How dare you! Night elves look the best in transmog…minus our ears poking through helmets
Yeah, it’s pretty stupid how you can just…outrun it. And it lasts so little too so the window to use it is abysmal.
…
? Im confused about your point.
That’s how their power works in lore and with NPCs. I don’t think it would be as OP depending the CD.
I mean - this is one of those moments. Just because you don’t find a good use for it because you don’t utilize it doesn’t mean other people don’t as well. I love spatial rift, and I use it in most arena encounters. Because you do not is your own problem, not the problem of other people. And it shouldn’t be changed just because of your own anecdotal experience.
You’re not thinking about how to use it properly. You’re not supposed to run in the same direction as it. You’re supposed to run in the opposite direction and then use it as it’s timing out. For example, if someone is chasing you in arena, you throw it in one direction, and then run in the other. Because of the amount of space you have put between yourself and your rift, the other dps who has been attacking you must now use one or both mobility CD’s to get to you. This is especially critical when using it during an enemy’s burst phase. It can completely counter a go.
Not to mention you can spatial rift out of things like root beam because it’s physical.
I’ve heard a decent amount of complaints when talking to other void elves, I was just using personal experience.
Yes I know, I’ve heard that a million times and I’ve done it too.
Point is, it’s very slow and niche on its use. Since our other racials are also niche would be better to have something broader.
A physical mobility cooldown which can be used while rooted, and provides the player with interesting ability usage in areas where Z-axis is present is somehow really slow and niche? It’s meant to be an ability which requires proper foresight and understanding of mechanics to use in a beneficial manner. I don’t think that’s a bad thing in an ability. I wish more abilities functioned like that to be honest.
Well it is slow, again I can outrun it.
And yes, it’s niche. You said it yourself best use is in z axis, with some foresight to it and understanding the mechanics. Meanwhile other abilities are far more useful due being broader.
I wouldn’t consider entropic embrace or preternatural calm niche.
EE is great for sure. PC is only good for casters.
It provides the player with interesting ability usage in Z-axis. I did not say “best used in Z-axis situations”. You can use spatial rift in any form of encounter with pre-determined mechanics. You have it quoted. Also, as Elisiana said, Preternatural Calm and Entropic Embrace are flat benefits to damage done, and a hard wall to any and all spell push back other than a direct kick. That’s pretty damn good. That ain’t niche at all. It’s flat benefits.
Spatial Rift requiring some thought is a hell of a lot more fun to use than say Berserking or Bloodfury.
I just think the rifts would be a better racial in general and it fits much better with the race since we see umbric and alleria use them
