I mean, it’s good for all casters. That’s not really niche when at least half the classes that can be velf will find it useful.
And completely useless for the rest. Is not like other racials that help more some classes than others. It’s just flat out useless.
I replied to the other racials above.
Yes, I know you can use it in any form of encounter, most of it won’t be as good.
I rather have an ability that’s way more useful than something that’s going to be great one miraculous time out of many.
It’s useful for more classes/specs than those that won’t get a benefit. So really the “niche” or smaller group is the one that won’t benefit.
As for spatial rift, yeah, it’s an interesting skill with very specific situations where it’s useful. I loved it when running orbs on Ghuun or the mage/monk fight in BoD. And it’s good for PvP. But overall, I agree it’s a pretty specialized skill.
Like who? Even the flat stat buff increases like Berserking which provides nothing but straight haste on a small cooldown isn’t going to be useful for all classes and specs. Haste is worthless on something like a brewmaster.
And just so we’re clear, you realize more specs available to void elves benefit from PC, as opposed to not, right?
Void elves can be warriors, hunters, mages, rogues, priests, warlocks, monks, and death knights. The only people who don’t benefit from PC at all are rogues and warriors. All of the other classes benefit from PC in some form or another right down to Blood DK Bloodrinker and hunter pet rez. That second one is particularly important in arena when people will no doubt try to bully the hunter after killing it.
Hell, on a technical level, if you by accident forget your poisons in an arena, or in an encounter with ticking damage, even you benefit from PC.
But we are talking on a larger scale than just PvP a rift that could portal multiple teammates would be amazing
Does Preternatural Calm still work on Aimed Shot for MM?
Oh my lawd, that would be so OP, lol
That would be beyond busted, and you know that. Giving every class void elves can be a warlock gate would be beyond busted. That is not a racial. And that would mean the MDI would be nothing other than void elves forever because you could literally just portal your team through dungeons after hitting the trash requirement.
Yes.
Slap a phat cooldown on that baby and make it unusable in combat. A cooldown of maybe 5-10 minutes
Still busted. That means that you do what the MDI does and you pull big, grab everything, AoE it down, and then spatial rift passed packs you’re not supposed to be able to pass. Not to mention people would still stack 5 void elves which means that CD means literally nothing.
In no way, in any universe, in any form of content, does this not become busted. You cannot justify it.
No it isn’t.
Only 11 specs directly benefit while 16 specs don’t.
Yup.
Sure one spec that might not benefit all the time due how it’s built. Still most racials do benefit most classes.
Replied to that above.
Sure, extremely niche situations again.
I feel you are not comprehending what niche is.
And I feel you do not see the value in PC and are underrating it because you’re not actually realizing what it does for you.
I guess we’re even.
While it is a bit gimmicky I think all races have a dumb racial of some sort.
I still do find uses for it. I basically use it as a second hop outside of transcendence. Boss will be casting and I can hop out at the last minute.
Not gonna object to it becoming like a blink though, would be awesome.
We have never had a busted racial before? Blizzard could find a way to balance it at some point youre just being stubborn. Keeping it broken for a bit would actually be good for the game because it would bring more players to the alliance side, nerfing it afterwards would be alright just slap an even phatter cooldown on it or make it unusable with enemies in a couple yards of you.
No, I’m being realistic. In no way shape or form does a warlock gate available to all classes in a game where Esports matters going to happen. Ever.
Further, it does not bring people over to Alliance because all people would do is use the tournament realms to make their characters. Which means it doesn’t actually shift faction balance.
It’s never going to happen.
Sure so youre saying blizzard with all their employees could not find a single thing to make it balanced?
A warlock gate with individual cooldowns that’d let people traverse dungeon terrain and mobs they’re not supposed to skip? Yes, no way in hell would Blizzard be able to find that because the essence, the core of what you are describing breaks the game. It’s not like a silence, or a kick, or a stealth mechanic. You are literally advocating for something which completely takes terrain out of the question.
You do realize. the venthyr covenant ability. is literally. this. just. without. the. group. teleport.
And you realize people have been saying that’s busted for literally months since it first came out and was tested and Blizzard still hasn’t found a way to make it work. Not to mention, one person being able to do it does not mean the whole flippin’ group gets to do it.
Busted. It will never happen. Come up with something not so busted. You know, like an actual racial.
First, let’s be clear that you initially said Preternatural Calm is niche. Niche meaning a small, specialized subset.
Which specs can potentially benefit?
Mage - all 3 specs
Priest - all 3
Warlock - all 3
Monk - all 3 (Vivify anyone?)
Hunter - Marksman (Aimed Shot); and the other 2 specs if you include Revive Pet
DK - Blood
Who doesn’t ever benefit?
Rogue - all 3 specs
Warrior - all 3 specs
DK - unholy & frost
Hunter - if you don’t include revive pet, BM & surv
Even if you want to put your foot down and say half the specs could never benefit (which is wrong), half is still not “niche.”
