Void Elf Paladin - This NPC Needs Fixing

I do in other games, so yes I totally would.

Who cares. we have lightforged warlocks
let every race be every class already. gameplay>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> lore

i’m sorry but wow’s story has been a joke for a while now. it doesn’t matter

I don’t think people fundamentally disagree with you Lore.

When Blizzard announced all races will be opened to all classes eventually, they’re going to have to explain Paladins for Void Elves and Forsaken pretty clearly. It was going to happen though. It was inevitable. I’m just riding it out at this point.

The rest are easily made Tyr’s Guard Paladins.

I think one thing we all seem to agree on is we need Special Skins for most Class/Race combinations (The only classes that probably don’t need it being Warriors and Rogues. Hunters Probably not either, but there’s an argument to be made for that probably. MAYBE Death Knights and Demon Hunters if other races find alternatives to how to do those, like the Zandalari Demoniacs.).

Examples
Zandalari Demoniacs (Demon Hunters)
Lightforged Draenei Warlocks (Make the Demons are Lightforged, that’d make it make sense.)
Make some kind of thing where the Void Wielders figured out how to mimic Light Spells with the Void and Vice Versa (Void Elves, Mag’har, Forsaken, etc.)
Tidecaller (Kul’tiran Priests)
Like I could go on.

Sure, and all they have to do is change the particle and spell effect colors from yellow to purple. Thematically this solves the issues and we can establish the reasoning in game via quests and NPC interactions. We can even call them Void Knights or what ever we want… or not.

Either way it’s an easily fixable issue… they need the Green Fire treatment. And, I’d suggest Blizzard gives all Paladins the option to unlock Shadow/Void themed Paladin spells exactly like the Green Fire quest… again, this is the solution to this issue and it will also win people over.

EDIT: Oh, just thought about this. Much like “of the Black Harvest” Paladins could have “Void Knight” … so, they’re still Paladins but they get a title which indicates otherwise.

The other 2 priest specs would like to have a word with you.

The power they use defines the spec. Pure light = holy, Pure void = shadow, a balance of light/void = disc.

What do you think using void power implies? You have to invite the power “in” to use it. And once you invite it in, there is no going back. Canonically.

when the Void is invited into a heart, it ends in madness. Wielding its power creates a hunger for more power, which can be a trap. Once someone starts using the shadow, they will belong to the Shadow.” - https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Void

Only one confused here is the one named lore that doesn’t know lore.

You realize that priests have an entire spec that’s themed around having the DISCIPLINE to wield both the light and void…

He’s actually right though.

Class Gameplay availability does not equate to Cannon.

The biggest example of this is Night Elven Priests.

And those spells still transform based on what spec you are to shadow and holy respectively, not both at the same time. So, thematically, Lore is correct, I think.

Why are we arguing about this? This seems really stupid.

We could be having a discussion on how to improve the class and add layers of complexity and identity.

Inb4 all the backlash from Blood Elf players.

Honestly, just seeing both races get each others customizations would be funny.

His eyes show as green to me still.

They are still primarily Holy Priests, or Alonsus Faol is going to have some words with you.

That may be true, but the lore lays out how the void works. Which can be transferred to classes in general.

Just using the void a little is enough to ‘corrupt’ you. And thats shadow priests, disc, holy (that use some SW spells), sub rogues, locks.

Being infused with void is really no different than using the spells. Either way, you have to take in the void.

Not to start a brawl or anything, but the player character IS canon. It’s just only canon for you.

I don’t think that they really think about dictating lore when they put NPCs in the game. I’d be curious if you have any backup for your assertion that zero Void Elves use the Light and zero Lightforged Draenei using Shadow besides just that you’ve never noticed an NPC of one of those two classes using that power until now.

At the end of the day, though, Blizzard makes the lore, they make the game world, they make the rules. If something was vaguely implied before through inference, it’s still totally open for being nailed down to an explicit definition. And if it was mentioned one time in some third-party author book or side story it’s their prerogative if they want to un-canonize it, retcon it or reframe it.

Personally, I’d like to have Shadow Knights that are Void Elf Paladins who have a purple tint to their powers and Lightforged Warlocks with Lightbound-tinted demons that they’ve enslaved and pressed into the service of the Light, but if Blizzard goes another way with it I’m a great big shrug.

It seems to me that they’re just going to explain that the Void elves having void powers doesn’t interact with the Sunwell like it was previously thought to in their introduction quest. How they do that will be up to Blizzard, but if I had to imagine anything, it was that the Void elves used the wrong spell or were deceived or something.

Races who typically only use one or the other are only able to use the other for gameplay constraints.

That is the only reason, otherwise that would involve barring off entire specs of certain classes to some races.

Which would then involve people whining about why they can’t be a Holy Priest Void Elf.

Oh snap, they are green!

They were not before the reset though. Interesting.

EDIT: Yep Lyria’s are blue and his were the same color when I was in there when the servers first came up.

His eyes are not even one of the Blood Elf Options (no iris etc). So I’ll wait to see if it’s a bug or not.

More Edits, I looked at Boreus’ eyes. At that time his were White (like the blind look) and are now Void Elf purple. So it could be a bug.

EDIT #3: Okay I will check to see if this changes. Another change is the Silvermoon scholar’s eyes. I could be mistaken but I believe they were all blue before. Also, the guy with gold eyes (Black hair, Prince haircut) was sitting and no longer is. I’ll check if this changes or is static.

Yes, this exactly.

I see no reason why we couldn’t have this. It would be more interesting and fun.

Fun would be more effort, and adding a ‘sub class’ like shadowknight would open a door to countless others players have been asking for for years.

And that would require even more work for them :joy:

Class Customization beyond the Druids would go along way to making Certain Class/Race combos alot more lore friendly without player restraints.

He could be transitioning. In the end it won’t matter. Blizz will do what they want. I just hope they also give races enough customizations to make them distinct as well. It’s kind of boring if everyone looks the same.

Same although I’m not sure if it’s because Telogrus is so dark, but they seem dim.
