I believe at this point that Blizzard would probably start it from the point of a choice, the skin would be applied or available to those races whose lore reflects it. And it probably would be able to be applied to any race that could be paladin rather than specifically the ones I labeled.

I want the lore to reflect the void in those races I mentioned cases and especially with Void Elves specifically.

I don’t begrudge others their thoughts on it though and I agree if they only gave it as the class skin there would undoubtably be those who would advocate for regular paladins as a glyph or some other option, just like folk currently do for the “high elf” nameplate. Those sorts are always going to be around.

I don’t care so long as the lore follows the void, or at least that option is a canon one. I’m not likely to make a Void Elf Light based Paladin, though I wouldn’t put it past me when provided the option to make a high elf one… but I doubt I’d play it over a void skinned version of a void elf paladin. Far more interesting to me.

Class skins have a lot of potential utility depending on how they choose to use them.

I would love to see some minor visual changes between all the various paladin “cultures”.

Not that I care either way but they will have to rewrite the Lore regarding how void and light interact, VE are literally infused with the Void adding a light infusion to the mix sounds painful!

This is the second time you’ve tried to push that narrative as well, so in addition to pushing a narrative claiming unaligned and neutral groups of High Elves the former who could very well be doing the opposite of your assumption and joining the Blood Elves, you’re now pushing a personal narrative because you dislike my assumption, despite you doing the same thing but reversed.

I could say the same of you for denying Blood Elves as the playable High Elf race since their introduction, and the very valid case that people who had no choice (outland High Elves) in choosing their homeland might very well be doing so upon their return to Azeroth. But I’ve not done that, I wouldn’t do that, but I will point out where despite your dislike of my points I choose to argue in good faith and wish you well I hope you can argue in good faith in the future.

They could also just have the paladin class be a toolset and use the void as the actual power source with a class skin.

. . . ya know what, I don’t have the time for this, I’ve pointed out the fact that alliance high elves are a thing, others have pointed out that alliance high elves are a thing, the fact that you are willingly ignoring this either means your a troll or intentionally ignorant, however that whole thing is irrelevant . . . I am ending this for now as I don’t want to debate this all night.

edit: also this has derailed the topic long enough . . . so yea.

I honestly hope they don’t end up unlocking every race and class combo. I don’t think having lore based limitations is actually a bad thing.

you can plug your ears all you like. that doesn’t mean the other person is a troll because you can’t stand what they are saying. it’s quite bad faith to insinuate so.

Same- and who knows maybe they’ll do the obvious / easy ones and then grind to halt and tell us why the few remaining won’t happen.

Or maybe in many years under class skins that forces Void Elves to stay void themed it might happen I just hope in that case Blizzard doesn’t undo the point of class skins by caving to the inevitable “let us be regular paladins w a glyph” requests that to be fair have already been made in various threads where people want VE class skin for Paladin they make sure to include a “Alliance High Elf” mock up next to their Void mock up.

And I think that’s fair overall to at least expect that if Blizzard does class skins they hold their ground on having class skins in place on the added class to the races that need that lore for the class.

So that’s my thing if class skins happen I hope they aren’t immediately made moot.

plug my . . . ugh . . . this is getting tedious . . . and quite frankly I don’t want to post a bunch of pictures showing alliance high elves . . .

Eh, I guess it’s from liking when DnD made that choice way back when, but I don’t mind everyone getting access to all classes and letting the players find their own backstory.

However, I feel like after the way things have gone I feel like if they add in stuff like skins or other flair for races that they spend some time on the races that don’t usually get the attention as much. Make awesome (mecha)gnome transformer druids, add more flavor into some of the races that have their own cultural takes on classes that have been stuck with someone else’s story behind the class. (sunwalkers, some less Elune flavored druids for non-night elves, stuff like that to flesh out some stuff more)

I don’t see unlocking all combos as inevitable anyway. I mean the last new class and evoker are so limited. They have said stuff about maybe more classes for dracthyr, but were less encouraging about the idea of evokers going to other races.

Demon hunters can be played by a whopping two races. I just don’t get the impression that they really want to unlock every class for every race.

Class skins I’d be more on board with than just opening up everything.

Unfortunately I have zero faith that even lore justifications for some combos would be made, much less flavor added for specific class/race combos. I’d love class skins or something that adds options for more diverse class customizations, but this is blizzard.

Their big new hook for a whole expac is a race class combo locked to itself. That sort of laziness isn’t indicative of a willingness to add more options.

Eh, I’m a DIY type, I’ll make up my justifications for my characters.

But I want justification for other people’s characters to be up to my own personal standards! Or at least the ability to chase nelf dark rangers offa my lawn.

Have you considered pointing and laughing at the ones that don’t live up to standard?

Exactly. If you were to have a Blood Elf Paladin that decided to become a Void Elf, they would still be a Paladin—given that WoW does not allow class changes.

I always thought that this was the justification given for Undead Holy Priests—they were originally Human Holy Priests before they died.
