The actual fact is, both Blood Elves and Void Elves are both High Elves too. Just because both have more customizations to look like the High Elves before the 3rd War doesn’t mean both are different races. Still both the same race.
My motto is somewhat the same of yours because you can’t be anti High Elf when the Blood Elves are the High Elves, however you can be anti Blood Elf just because they were given to the Horde and not the Alliance in Burning Crusade which is what most of the people I encounter and see in these threads are.
Netherlight warrior.
Combining void and light in their weapons.
Using its potent explosive powers to combat all threats to Azeroth and beyond.
Not infused with light. Summoning light to mix with their exhaled void powers to create potent explosions.
For gameplay purposes they are simply called “Paladins”
To try to get it in with a class skin concept sure is, it’s actually quite clear where one gets that analogy. I’m glad you picked up on what I was saying though because it is so clear right, clear as day.
It’s the pov of many like Naughty eloquently points out.
Trying to ship the regular paladin request under the name “class skin” as if it’s on the same level of people asking for a regular class skin is yes. Which is why I ask people where they are at on that position and they’ll tell you, people not for a regular paladin on VE but want a class skin are going to differentiate their request thats for sure.
There is no such thing as “shadowlight”, we’ve never seen anyone combine both the light and the shadow,
There are disciple priests and the cult of the forgotten shadow that preach using both the light and the shadow to form a balance, and for the greater good, but even they are not mixing the energies. There are no spells that deal both holy and shadow damage.
From what we’ve seen void and light do not mix, with how we’re told that the light and the void collided at the beginning of all time, we’ve seen how the reaction between the light and saronite, the blood of a void being. The Sunwell and the presence of Alleria.
People like Gaijinn claim that since void elves already can be priests then there should not be any problems but that’s ignoring that it’s simply a game mechanic, and in lore void elves are shadow priests, the spec that’s the most void-attuned spec in the game, and not giving velves that would be a crime, and blizzard have never locked specs from a race. We’ve also never seen a light-wielding void elf in any media.
Many people also compare void elf paladins to undead ones, but that’s a whole different ballpark since the majority of undead are animated through other cosmic energies like death and not void. So while using the light is a pain for any such creature it would not kill them unless they’re void risen.
Feel free to link me any void elf using the light, any spells dealing both light and shadow damage, or lore where it shows actual mixing of the forces and not just an individual switching between both forces.
I think they’re referring to the magic school of Twilight which the game classified as holy + shadow. But we don’t have anything in the lore that backs up the game mechanic.
There is a single instance that can be argued show Light and Void safely mixing, but again we also don’t know the specifics of that so it’s more so an outlier within a sea of “they can’t mix”.
Oh you’re proposing a new class based on this I suppose cool
daily reminder that such fantasy doesn’t actually exist within high elf culture and actually like a majority of things people like about “high elf fantasy” are made up usually.
High Elves did have Paladins. Some were apart of the Silver Hand. So yes, it’s part of their culture.
Part of the reason the Blood Knight order was created was because they lost their faith and therefore access to the Light after the attack by Arthas and had to resort to draining a Naaru to get the Light back.
It’s almost all non-evidence. The silverhand you were referencing I assume is a high elf from WC2 which we all know how that’s gone with other class archetypes with them compared to now as well. All the high elf “paladin” characters are basically placeholders to fill up the world. There is no real high elf paladin lore or cultural significance here though people love to try and force it.
And what you fail to mention is that all notable blood knights were either priests like Liadrin or warriors before the fall of the sunwell.
I feel like it’s not an insane concept to differentiate people who are asking for a class skin for a void Paladin (which I still disagree w but I respect) and people who are asking for a regular Paladin and calling it a class skin at the same time.
Do I think the High Elf Paladin concept is valid? I think it exists on Blood Elves the playable High Elf race.
Was I commenting on the validity of Blood Elves at this moment? No I was speaking on the difference between people who are giving void Paladin concepts for a class skin, and people trying to act like a regular Paladin qualifies as a class skin. And I used the term Trojan horse yes I did because a regular Paladin is not a class skin.
That someone was either intellectually dishonest or simply just had hurt feelings over what I was actually saying isn’t an excuse to then try to compare what I actually said to some speech about “everyone’s request is valid none of us can speak on validity” to support this narrative / claim weren’t even analogous to what I said.
None of this is really a reply to you but more so a thought based on the reply you replied to because I do agree w your comment, it’s just insane to me that the person who tried to have a moment didn’t discern that’s not what I was saying in that moment. But now it’s what I’m saying so I guess we’re clear now.
It’s from Blizzard (HS).
High Elf paladins within the silver hand is mentioned in novels, particularly one that literally details the creation and origin behind the Blood Knights. And there are named High Elf paladins, one being Mehlar Dawnblade who was a pupil of Uther and also Melin. Both are canon as shown by blizzard having one in game and the other being stated to be canon over Twitter.
So again, paladin is apart of high elf culture.
Oh honey, don’t think so highly of yourself. No one here is effected by your biased opinions. On the contrary, I am pretty sure helfers feel relieved when you post in their threads, as that is usually a sign that their requests will soon come to fruition.
Remember when you successfully predicted that void elves wouldn’t get natural skin colors, or that time when you nailed it and affirmed void elves wouldn’t ever gain access to normal hair colors? Yeah, they got “void blonde” instead.
So now all helfers need to do is to wait for your next prophecy to fulfill concerning void elf paladins.
I would not go that far, at least not before the fall, we can count on one hand the number of high elf paladins we know of before the fall of Quel’thalas. Since paladins as a concept itself were quite new in the Alliance, only invented during the second war and mainly drafted their numbers from Lordaeron. And we don’t have any records of non-human paladins fighting in the second war, so they must have been trained in the interim between the end of the second war and the start of the third.
Having it be part of culture needs to be more established widely or historically than just having a newly formed group have a handful of members. It’s also stated that the silver hand started out as a strictly human organization and they only allowed others (like dwarves/elves) later.
I think it’s Arator and Mehlar(now belf). Maybe Rulen? Are the only named ones pre-third war.
But the population known as high elves should now have increased their paladin numbers simply due to time and living with the Alliance.
I personally think it is neater and makes more sense if the current high elves leaned more into paladins after the split.
Edit:
Who’s Melin, I can’t find this character. I’d also love the novels where it’s mentioned there’s many high elves part of the silver hand.
My apologies but is there a reason you’re starting off your post in a condescending manner? I don’t appreciate it personally and think we can all rise above and engage kindly.
You were the person the other day who had a lot to say about me iirc and we’ve never spoken right? No worries about it I’m just trying to place you.
Though a bit ironic, since again we’ve never met and you had so much to say about a person you’ve never met or interacted w.
In any case my stance on Void Elves I think is quite clear I am glad that comes across to you at least, misunderstandings even when disagreeing is never a positive I try to understand even if I disagree.
If I’m not mistaken traditional fantasy lore stats that Priest are born with the light but Paladins get their light from Deities of light. Which explains why Undead can be priest but not Paladins. Void elves are infused with darkness not sure how that would work. This isn’t like “lul meme Tauren rogues” It be like lighting pure water on fire just doesn’t make sense.
I’m fine with it and feel like we are heading towards all races being all classes. Ones like Shamans, Druids and Paladins might take a bit more time. For development of totems, forms and mounts. But I think eventually it’ll happen. The only thing that will keep it from happening is if Blizz abandons it like they did heritage armor and a couple other things.
I have to admit, I care a lot more about heritage armor and heritage accessories than classes.
I’d like monks to be universal and a few more flavors of demon hunter, but I’m not really madly invested.
But damnit, I have trolls and draenei just waiting for those sweet lorey quests and new mog options.
