Void Elf Paladin make a lot of sense

Void elves are stupid.

Paladins are stupid.

Mix them together for extra stupid, it works perfectly.

Community council member saying that. Heh… doesn’t put much faith in blizzard.

I’d love to see a void paladin–a zealot of the void–whose abilities are all void-tinged.

I feel like Leah Remini and her Leaving Scientology and the Aftermath tv show rn

Or just like the fact Blood Elves have been Horde longer than they ever were Alliance, I’ve been not in support of replicating a core Horde race on the Alliance in quite some time because I saw the damage it did despite the fact many Alliance players who wanted that came off sympathetic to me at first. But just like Quel’thalas leaving the Alliance apparently no one is ever allowed to change their stances.

Do you have something relevant of mine in the last several years? Or do I rest my case on where I stand, because this inability to let things go and meet people where they are today or at the very least the several years is very very weird behavior.

…You know, I was going to type here ‘Forget Paladins, I want Void Elf Death Knights because…’
But then I realized that they actually added those in SL

If an undead skeleton can use paladin skills for the lich king. I am not sure being “void” really matters when it comes to weaponizing the light.

Most fiction does just that lol.

I mean look at spider man, in logic you won’t get spider powers from being bitten by a radioactive spider. In fact that spider would be dead from the radiation.

I see you left out the part where arthas felt the light swell in him and then settle, and as he lifted his hammer, it felt lighter then before, when he used to struggle to lift, but please keep pushing your agenda and ignoring the lore. Keep leaving out important tid bits.

If you did you would not ignore the lore in front of you.

Ironic given your name.

Hmmm

Now it shone down on him, in him, through him, and he was forced to shut his eyes against the almost blinding radiance. It warmed at first, then seared, and he winced slightly. He fel—scoured. Emptied, scrubbed clean, then filled again, and he felt the Light swell inside him and then fade away to a tolerable level. He blinked and reached for the hammer, the symbol of the order. As his hand closed about the haft, he looked up at Archbishop Faol, whose benign smile widened.

“Arise, Arthas Menethil, paladin defender of Lordaeron. Welcome to the Order of the Silver Hand.”

Arthas couldn’t help it. He grinned as he grasped the enormous hammer, so large that for a brief moment he thought he wouldn’t be able to lift it, and swung it upward with a whoop. The Light, he realized, made the hammer seem to weigh less in his hands. At his exultant cry, the cathedral suddenly began to ring with the sound of answering cheers and applause. Arthas found himself roughly embraced by his new brothers and sisters, and then all remnants of formality were torn away as his father, Varian, and others crowded the altar area. Much laughter was had as Varian tried to clap him on the shoulder, only to have his hand sting when he struck the hard metal of the shoulder plates. And then somehow Arthas was turned around and stared into the blue- eyed, smiling face of Lady Jaina Proudmoore.

There is nothing there stating Paladins are infused with the light. Please, stop with this headcanon.

Meh, most of my posts arent fond of Blizzard. Keep in mind we aren’t affiliated with Blizzard. We are in the end just regular players. They get praise when they deserve it and they get flamed when they deserve that instead.

It’s right there… They literally said that the light is swelling/flowing inside him.

What is your interpretation of this entry?

Are you purposely ignoring these and trying to say he was not infused with the light? Like literally?

Are you lore? He does the same thing.

The part you quoted states nothing about paladins being infused with the Light. It simply states that the Light made it easier for Arthas to lift the hammer. You do not need to be infused with the light to wield and benefit from the powers of the Light.

You out of all people say this?

I think you need reading comprehension classes. What happened is exactly what it feels to be infused.

Because it is true.

I don’t really think a subjective view from Arthas of all people is really the bees knees of explaining whats going on in a Silver Hand ritual.

Hes having a religious experience and nothing there really confirms the widely held belief that Paladins are somehow infused like the LFD are.

Beyond that its only the Silver Hand that does this. We see no evidence any other paladin groups follow this same design. Its not enough to claim Paladins are infused with the Light rather than the blessing that it actually is regularly shown to be in every retelling of the original Paladins stories.

And all of this is moot anyways… If Void Elves got paladin and it was a void based setup this wouldn’t even apply. It wouldn’t even technically be a paladin just using the same toolset gamewise.

Paladins who believe in the power of a giant dinosaur who has died onscreen like 4 times at this point and who may soon actually be believing in the power of Vol’jin are the best paladins anyway.

I don’t think so. In the games I’ve played, the anime I’ve watched, and generally anything fiction, there are rules in that universe that are often explained in detail.

That would be a bad example imo. Because that is the fiction part of the universe, the underlying rules that manage that universe still are present despite its non existence RL.

A similar example of rules might be “A void being can die due to contact with light magic.” I’m not stating that as an absolute “rule,” but one example that was presented.
Despite magic being non existent in the real world, there are cause and effects in fiction along with underlying rules that aren’t broken to tie the story together and explain events that occur. This doesn’t make it absent of logic. shrug

Another point with context to reality. As someone who has worked in pest control and has had to handle infestations of all kinds. Spiders have a very thick carapace like scorpions. They definitely can survive radiation similar to cockroaches and similar insects/arachnids.

Hi.
I see you think void elves would be ok as paladin class.
There is one, and only one, way it would work.
They take increasing amount of damage when alive because when light and void touch, it causes an explosion that tends to hurt lots.
Only reason they can be priests is because there is such a thing as void/shadow priests (its why its available to forsaken as well, but thats another topic), and why lock players out of 2/3rds of a class just because of race choice?
One of the differences between Priest and Paladin, is that Priests only wield Light while Paladins “infuse” themselves with Light (not to the extent of Lightforged Draenei where its a more thorough “infusion”).

Paladins aren’t infused with the light. There is no fundamental difference between a paladin and priest other than how they use the light in the field. The Silver Hand ceremony is that of a blessing (akin to giving someone a buff), not an infusion.

Of Blood and Honor (Chapter 2):

  1. “Archbishop: In the Light, we gather to empower our brother. In its grace, he will be made anew. In its power, he shall educate the masses. In its strength, he shall combat the shadow. And, in its wisdom, he shall lead his brethren to the eternal rewards of paradise.”
  2. “Archbishop: Clerics of the Northshire, if you deem this man worthy, place your blessings upon him.
One of the clerics comes with a blessed dark blue embroidered stole in his hands, which he placed reverently around Tirion’s neck. Then, he dipped his thumb in a small vial of sacred oil and anointed Tirion’s forehead.”
  3. “Archbishop: Knights of the Silver Hand, if you deem this man worthy, place your blessings upon him.
Two of the armored men comes, the first laid the warhammer before Tirion’s feet. The second, Saidan Dathrohan, placed the silver plates upon Tirion’s shoulders.”
  4. “Each of the clerics and knights raised their right hands and pointed toward Tirion, empowered him with the holy light.”

Arthas: Rise of the Lich King (Part 1: Chapter 5):

  1. “In the Light, we gather to empower our brother.”
  2. & 3) are similar to the 2) & 3) from above
  3. “Sweat broke out on Arthas’s brow. What was going wrong? Why wasn’t the Light wrapping itself around him in blessing and benediction?”

The rest of the book makes a point that the light flows through him or he’s channeling it etc. Same as priests.

  1. Chapter 8 … “Maybe if he focused on fighting, on learning how to accept, and channel and direct the Light, he could get the hell over her. Over the girl he himself had broken up with”

Had he been infused, why would he need to learn to accept, channel, and direct the light? Seems like it’d only be directing.

  • This ceremony is exclusive to the Order of the Silver Hand, which not all Paladins are a part of. There is no evidence to support that other Paladin individuals/races/organizations undergo the same process nor is it explicitly mentioned that it’s needed to become a Paladin.
This is just a fact. Silver Hand was originally just Humans and Dwarves.
Draenei became Paladins through the Naaru teaching them about the Light.
High Elves had Paladins through normal worship of the Light, but briefly lost in after most of them renamed to Blood Elves and had to drain it from Naaru. With the Sunwell restored, the Blood Knights returned to embracing the Light like the originally did.
Sunwalkers get the Light from basic worship of An’she, which is just a different form of the Draenei worshipping it through the Naaru and Humans/Dwarves through the Light itself.

The first Human Paladins were literally just Warrior + Priest
Tides of Darkness (Chapter 5)

  1. “I will establish a new branch of the Church, the paladins. I have already selected the first candidates for this order. Some were knights before but others were priests. I chose these men for both their piety and their martial prowess. They will be trained, not only in war but in prayer and in healing. And each of these valient fighters will possess both martial and spiritual power, particularly in blessing themselves and other with the strength of the Holy Light.”

And just so you’re aware there is zero statement about the ORIGINAL paladins of the Church, mentioned above, having gone through the ceremony mentioned twice earlier. This implying that the ceremony was created afterwards, and that again it isn’t necessary for one to be a Paladin.

Wielding the light is a matter of faith. Paladins don’t have the light within them. It answers their call just like with a Priest. The only Light infused mortals are Lightforged Draenei.

And before you mention the ceremony that supposedly “removed the light infusion from tirion”, that ceremony is literally just a gaslighting ceremony to make the Paladin believe they aren’t worthy and therefore their faith (and thus ability to call to the light) is disrupted. It’s why it didn’t actually succeed as he was able to rekindle his faith later after a self discovery/reflection journey.
