Yeah, I suppose. But this is part of the tribalism issue. People only want X,Y,Z for one group. Or they care more about the implemented methods used in balancing in the past. I think coming together as a community and seeking benefit for all is the only way to recover for this game. But that is a level of maturity I don’t think we will see anytime soon.
Well, that is because everyone isn’t going to agree with each other over every topic. Some will disagree, some will agree, some will be meh.
I mean, even if people disagree, they should be able to find a compromise of some form. I mean shoot I tried earlier and only received backlash and it benefitted everyone.
Well, it depends on what sort of topic it is. Because not everything people will want a compromise either.
I mean that is probably where the line is drawn I suppose. But it draws a pretty deep contrast between people RL too. Its been more of an enlightening experience than not.
I’d say the other way, just the people who don’t particularly care are tired of one group that repeatedly makes loud demands for just themselves. I mean, for example, what’s the point of this thread when they’ve already said they’re looking to open up classes to more races? It comes off as a demand to jump the line for one group instead of waiting for the paladin pass.
Boy howdy those mathematics are wonky.
They promote the addition of an equal-ish number of customizations per race. This is a very simplistic approach that wrongly presumes that everyone starts on an even footing. It also doesn’t consider that some parties are concerned about customization being discrete.
Not all races have equal customizations currently.
Theoretically everyone should have the same number of discrete options, bespoke and distinct to their individual in game race.
Currently, several races share assets. Those assets are not discrete. Some races have a shrinking net amount of discrete options and there is concern and discontent. Some folks feel they got a raw deal but instead of having even the slightest amount of empathy people are full speed ahead the demand train.
And now, back to browsing hundreds of hair choices for my fabulous tattooed elf on Second Life.
I’ll put it this way. Not every disagreement though has to turn into a War over Pixels on a screen. Take one of the biggest topics here on the forums, High Elves and Void Elf Paladins. Disagreements are alright, but sometimes, this disagreements turn out into a horse beating, all just over pixels on a screen, from everyone who engages.
This is why I am trying to not get so much involved on such agreements/disagreements, such as for example, I disagree that Paladins should be unlocked to Void Elves, but I’m just leaving it at that.
Give us Void Elf Paladins, Mechagnome Druids and Thin Kul Tiran humans and the Alliance will be finally complete.
I tend to give people benefit of the doubt unless I see them regularly making that thread. I don’t watch the forums closely as an example. But it also could be someone who genuinely isn’t aware and doesn’t watch the WoW news regularly. I can see both sides, I think the innocent bystander becomes a victim in that crossfire.
I look at it like the roots on a tree. Each root goes in different directions, and has smaller subsections connected to the root in the vicinity, that inevitably connects to the tree itself (stump, trunk, etc.) That same example there might be 20 major roots, and 100 smaller subsections to each of the 20. Each one with their own game of prisoner’s dilemma taking place inside each layer and outside each layer, up to the tree’s stump.
Its kinda crazy to me. Idk, I guess this quote rings true in my perception of it.
“The best revenge is to be unlike him who performed the injury.”
― Marcus Aurelius
In other words we’re breeding cynicism, and trolls. This forum needs moderation.
Yeah fair enough, I’m in that boat generally, but I have accepted Blizzard is going to do any race any class design.
Yeah I’m starting to think it has a lot to do with a form of tribalism and prisoners dilemma at varying levels, but you’re right it doesn’t have to be that way, but these are choices everyone on the forums make based on their metric of how things ought to be.
Kind of hoping Cross-faction grouping/guilds will help mitigate some of this.
It might, my prediction with cross faction groups was that the best of both factions would team up and everyone at the bottom would feel the brunt of that force. Perhaps I was wrong, but it appears to be true to me. I’m not sure if it is confirmation bias though, but possible. I’m not sure it will do anything more than consolidate what already exists and may or may not improve the alliance’s opportunities to find guilds for content due to the perception of quality that horde has of alliance players and the stigma that is held over horde players.
Seems to me Ion approves the void elf paladin request, that’s all that matters.
We just have to patiently wait for it to happen.
I wanna thank ervy1, includin antis, for postin in the thred & help us get void elf paladinos
void elf paladinos make sence end will be hour nex clas conbo
From memory night elves, humans, dwarves and orcs in that order have a fairly large lead over the other races with trolls being relatively close behind and gnomes and forsaken right at the bottom.
Paladin for everyone! Except Vulpera, cause I hate Disney fan bois.
Trolls and dwarves used to have the most classes. Trolls can’t be DH, Paladins and now Evokers. Dwarves can’t be DH, Evokers and Druids.
If Blizzard walks back their statement, I would hope they would treat every race the same way. Give them access to most classes.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
I think we’re discussing customisation. Otherwise orcs are way further down than fourth.
There’s a fair amount of mutually exclusive options baked in to void elves.
Like, say, the dark ranger skin/eyes (dead skin should be uncoupled from eyes for all elves, and nightborn should get it too, because they’re ELVES DAMNIT).
And it looks like void elves have a lot of faces, but actually only half of them work with one skinset. Because Bliz loves ye olde copy paste.
I’m not quite bored enough to go digging for the “possible unique characters” chart, though.
