Hence why a majority of the population goes on pilgrimages to visit what they call their most “sacred” site. It’s why they, as a group, are fiercely protective of it, to the point where they were ready to exile their own people should they serve any sort of threat toward it’s sanctity. It’s why they contribute a sentience to it much in the way a person would give god “the light will protect me” we never hear them describe the Arcane, or any other force of magic in this way.
She describes the light as a force that enlightened her, that showed her the error of her ways, as if it were deity or benevolent force that helped her see the error in her ways. She describes as such when you her residing over the Blood elf Pilgrims at the Sunwell.
Lady Liadrin says: My brothers and sisters, words cannot describe what I felt upon seeing the Sunwell rekindled.
Lady Liadrin says: In that moment, the Light revealed to me the truth of the terrible things I had done.
Lady Liadrin says: Our people had walked a dark path and mine was among the darkest of them all.
Lady Liadrin says: But the Light showed me that I was not lost. It helped me to find the strength to survive in spite of all that had happened and all the evil I had wrought.
No other force of magic is described in such a way, or context. If you don’t think this is meant to parallel the religious context someone might worship their god, then you’re quite frankly blind as a bat, or too bias to admit it.
Not even close, while we might favor these systems we do not worship them to the point where we say phrases like “By the ICU!” or make regular journeys to congregate around them and bathe in their purpose. This parallel is pretty laughable.
What are you even arguing? I never implied their use of blood was a “religious belief system” that was the entire point. They utilize it like a resource or ammo, but they do not openly worship or rely upon it to the same degree they rely upon forces like the Arcane, and Light. Which are two sources they not only manipulate, but absorb into their own bodies. It has a far more significant meaning than something they’d consider a mere resource like food, or ammunition.
Your posts are beginning to meander, or you’re simply arguing points im not making.
Blood magic generally includes death, like the many blood pits in Nazmir that required countless troll sacrifices to cultivate. While they have no problem utilizing an pre-existing resource, the Blood elves aren’t about to go around sacrificing living beings or draining them of their blood to utilize it.
And “Death” includes aspects like Death Knights, and San’lyn, which also have no place among Blood elf society. In fact in the Death knight Order Hall you directly appose Lady Liadrin, and dozens of Blood elves in the Temple, another example of how the two societies clash.
I mean, you should problem take some reading comprehension classes if you can’t read my posts correctly, and go on pointless tangents about points that were never made. I’m not here to teach you how to read, please do that on your own time.
Yes, actually - When you visit the Sunwell at a later point you can see her putting heavy significance into the light beyond just a “force” meant to manipulate. She explains how it showed her the error of her ways, and enlightened her to the evils she had commited. It was not just “Oh hey, yeah this light stuff? It’s great and makes us strong.” The light goes far beyond just a resource they use, it’s an ideology.
When they forcibly took the light it put them into severe pain, to the point where calling upon it was agony for their Blood Knights.
It does though, and we can see this through Lady Liadrin when the Sunwell was restored.
Velin says,
“In time, the light and hope held within - will rebirth more than this mere fount of power… Mayhap, they will rebirth the soul of a nation.”
To which Liadrin replies
“Blessed ancestors! I feel it… so much love… so much grace… there are… no words… impossible to describe…”
We do not hear any other force of magic described in such way, because Blood elves do not view those forces of magic in any other lens then a force for them to control, but the Light represents the hope of their people, the soul of their nation. Even before the Sunwell’s rebirth the Sunwell has been described as the most important aspect of their culture, which is why it’s described as their people’s most sacred site.
The mental gymnastics is real if you’re actually trying to pretend the Light is just some resource they use, and has no profound meaning to them, because either you simply haven’t been paying attention, or you’re simply refusing to because it does not align with your agenda. Either or is equally inapporpriate.
Except we see Lady Liadrin, and her Paladins defending the church of the holy light against the Death Knight order hall, heck she is ready to give her life to protect it despite that it has no relevance or correlation to the light from the Sunwell. Not once does she refer to the Sunwell, but to the light itself when mocking the Death knights for trying to invade upon the church’s holy ground. Are you even paying attention at this point?
Except we’ve never seen any site where they worship Arcane, or protect it’s sanctity. They never refer to it as a intelligent force that has enlightened them, or helped them. The Blood elves certainly worship the light in a far different manner then they do with any other source of magic, contributing a sense of intelligence, and nobility to it. We never hear Lor’themar or any other Blood elf use phrases like “By the light!” or “For the Sunwell!” for other forces of magic like the Arcane because unlike the light they see it as merely a resource for them to control. The light is something they’ve come to respect, and even revere.
Nah, most of them simply changed their tune on what they want now. The very same people who said they’d be happy with fair skin are the same ones out here crying out for all the Blood elf customizations. Heck, read the opening post.
The Blood magic the Blood elves use does not involve death, but their use of it is relatively new, and unprecedented, where as modern Blood magic requires suffering, and death. We see this in Nazmir when we infiltrate their tribe - they literally beat, and torture their victims before tossing them into a vat of blood for their rituals. The point is that the Blood elves do not use barbaric and horrific methods of blood magic in the same way other races do.
Oh the hilarity considering half of your post is your pointless meandering over points or arguments that were never made. I have to sit here and sort through half of the pointless text to actually get even a slice of something relevant to the conversation.
It’s about as much as an asset as which arrows or swords they use, or whether or not they want to send mages, or farstriders. But they merely use these objects as sources of ammunition, they do not contribute these things as themes they worship, or revere in the same way they do the light. Your argument is weak, and grasping at straws, or simply irrelevant altogether.
