eh, grey blue
Thatās why Iām asking for light blue.
How about a big clear NOOOOOOO! Iām sorry the high elf fans didnāt get what they actually wanted Blood elves completely stripped away from Horde and given to Alliance. Cus they feel like they are entitled to something that was never thereās. Just cus Void elves got a stupid skin customization doesnāt mean they get to completely take every last thing the race they really wanted and give the exact same race to both factions. You canāt have our race! Be grateful with the skin color. Pfft
Idc if Void Elves get our hair colors, as long as we get their hairstyles (not the ones with tentacles, for obvious reasons) in exchange.
Wasnāt it you guys telling us that āvoid elfs are high elves so deal with itā and now that Blizzard has stated their intent to make sure both blood and void elves will have the options to both look like their parent race you guys suddenly get upset that we want the blonde hair for velfs to complete the look?
I donāt really need the same exact colors or styles as Blood Elves for my Void Elves to make them fulfill the High Elf fantasy (or even just for variety). Iād be pretty happy with just some ports from Humans (which makes sense considering High Elves are often mentioned as intermingling with Humans):
Iād be perfectly content with these Human hairstyles and colors on my Void Elf:

Talendrion also did a mockup of Void Elf males with Human hair:

The tentacles are actually not part of the hair models (thereās no holes in the hair if they are removed) so Blizzard could conceivably give Blood Elves ALL of the Void Elf hairstyles and simply leave the tentacles off of them. They actually look pretty nice without the tentacles for the most part.
Talendrion was kind enough to show what the hair looks like with no tentacles:

I already hated the void elves to begin with that was already bad enough in my opinion and here people are begging for void elves to get all the customization Blood elves have Paladins and demon hunters they donāt care about the actual high elf race at all they only want the race they are still salty that they think they are entitled to I find it very greedy that Blizz finally gave them the stupid skin color they begged for and itās still not enough for them. They wonāt quit until they literally have every last thing Blood elves have.
They are not Blood elves and they are separate races so there has to be differences or they basically completely took one race and gave it to the opposing faction which isnāt fair if the other faction didnāt one of the other factions same customizations and classes for a race to.
For someone who is calling those people out for being salty you sure seem salty over them potentially getting race customizationās that make sense now. How does Void elves who came from blood elves getting the same high elf customizationās affect you in the slightest aside from the fact youāre clearly upset that they feel entitled to them?
lets just give undead human skintones too then. it doesnt affect anything
and lets just copy the night elf leaf aesthetic onto the nightborne while we are at it. theyre just night elves anyway as the helfers used to say
Either way. Itād just be nice to get something in exchange since people want to take the entire aesthetic of Blood Elves.
Iāve been advocating for that for months now, lets get undead that have sweet nathanos looking bodies and not the garbage ones they have now.
Not to mention that a lot of Blood Elfs AND High Elfs have been joining the Void Elf ranks/group recently. Not only did Ion say they are actively recruiting the other Elves to grow their numbers, but the Void Elf starting zone Telogrus Rift shows several High Elf Wayfarer and Silvermoon Scholar NPCs learning the Void from Locus Walker, and every few minutes a portal from Stormwind opens and a new High Elf comes through and starts studying the Void too.
And High Elf and Void Elf NPCs walk around the Mageās Quarter together talking.
AND then you have this Dev statement confirming these options represent High Elves:
āThis is another place where there was a race, High Elves, in the game which hadnāt really been represented on player characters. Blood Elves were the closest, but had felt green eyes. It was an opportunity where we had a number of elven races, and we could tie it back to their roots, letting players choose where they want to align and what fantasy to play out. We did have a lot of discussion about it, ultimately we might do more in the future, but for now weāre providing the option to have a few High Elf customizations available.ā
People can be salty about it all they want but many High Elves are officially members of Void Elves now and these new customization represent that. Adding in some more hair colors and styles will also represent that.
You can literally just take hairstyles and colors from Alliance races like Humans, Nelves, and Kul Tirans (here is a mockup of Kul Tiran colors on Velves, they share the same hair texture so itās easy https://twitter.com/RamavataramaArt/status/1280997006454988800?s=20
)
And then Belfs arenāt having any of their hairstyles or colors stolen :).
Iām more than fine with Belves getting our Velf hairstyles. Itād look super nice on them in their colors (Iāve seen artists do mockups of it) and itād also work super well if you guys ever get Dark Ranger customization options.
Because itās unfair for Alliance to completely get a Horde race with Horde not getting an Alliance race if it were the other way around I would say the exact same thing. This has nothing to do with Horde bias I would hate if the Nightborne got all the Night elf customizations.
but muh 2 portal keepers! they need permanent player representation!
Those look great! Thatās what Blizzard should go with, honestly.
Iād agree with you in most cases but specifically the Blood elf/Void elf one is entirely justified. Think about how many times we have been telling the alliance for YEARS(myself included) that they will never get helfs and that if they want to play helfs the horde is there waiting for them.
Then I realized how dumb it is blocking people from playing something they enjoy on the faction they enjoy for my own personal selfish reasons. We all said Blood elves were helfs, and so it only makes complete sense that the alliance void elves who came from belfs also get the ability to look like the high elves they all came from.
You know, dusk-colored vines, leaves, and flowers would look amazing on Nightborne! Too bad at this point itās just polishing a turd. They need to fix the Nightborne first, but Iād love to see this now that you bring it up. Itās not even that far fetched.
High Elves have been an Alliance race/faction for the last 10 years. Their NPCs are scattered throughout our cities, we have to earn Rep for them in multiple expacs, all our our Dalaran class trainers in our Alliance Sanctum are High Elves, the mage who teleports us to our Warfronts every week is a High Elf. High Elfs are all over our Mage Tower and in our Mageās Quarter. I donāt know what you want but you canāt earse years of lore and exposure that Alliance players have had baked into our questing experience.
I highly urge you to watch this video to explain why so many Alliance players want the race:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORg0W6mS_rE
Also, I donāt think thereās anything wrong with Nightborne getting some Night Elf customization options. Theyāre essentially the same race with the same history, for a large part of it. Thereās no reason they shouldnāt.
Pandas are already neutral race. Alliance has always had High Elf NPCs and factions integrated into it even though they werenāt playable. Nightborne are the Horde version of Nightelves. The lines have been blurred already.
Alsoā¦they can make the two distinct.
Give Velves no Belf hairstyles or colors. Instead give them hairstyles and colors from other Alliance races like Humans, Nelves, and Kul Tirans.
Give Belves Dark Ranger options, Farstrider tattoos, more hairstyles, Runic arcane tattoos, scars, and more options to further cement them a unique, distinct aesthetic.
The issue with this criticism is that Thalassian elves should have always gone to the Alliance in the first place. There is no equivalence between the Thalassian situation and any other factional-racial possibilities in Warcraft lore.
