Oh, I forgot to mention, they’d have Void eyes in some way. I don’t imagine the skin being locked to VEs, so it would presumably give Void eyes to anyone who skins their DK that way.
I’ll keep asking for red eyes to match my rage and void elves can ask for their Azshara/N’Zoth eyes. And we can both get red eyes. And you can stop using your ignorance of lore to try to keep people from requesting stuff.
I’ve thought about that as well as I’m all for having multiple class skins for the various classes.
They could make a pretty neat void knight changing up the death knight. Blood could just become Void as they both are based around consuming.
Unholy could be using void minions.
Frost could be themed around void spells instead of cold.
I think the addition of a “void form” would be pretty neat though. It doesn’t even have to bestow any buffs like the priest version…just a customizable visual thing you could toggle on and off (like a hunter pet’s spells). Expand the toggle options to other classes/races with similar (void form, entrophic embrace, worgen, etc). Having multiple classes have a void theme (and many others) would really open up some cool customization options. I’ve even thought a demon hunter retheme for void elves would be cool…they have some similarities so why not recruit them in, but instead of having fel, they use their existing void abilities in a similar manner. Could create some cool voidwalker styled meta forms, even using the same skeletons as the regular meta forms if that’s important. I’ve also thought san’layn demon hunters would be cool…you’ve already got the meta forms with stoneborn and dreadlords.
Simaia and Lost Codex had some class skin suggestions for Death Knights an those were really cool as well. Think one was drust based.
I’ve also kinda wondered about Lightforged and Void(bound?) changing from specific subraces to an all encompassing customization option that any race could pick. Maybe even do the same with same with vampire options. (I’m all for San’layn on horde though, but all is fine with me too). Even undead could be expanded to allow other racial options.
I thought the demon hunter was a neat class, and pretty much every abilities is just a reskin from some other class.
I wish red and green were options, but even the fiery bolvar ones would be great. Other options would be fine with me as well.
Were it a death knight based void knight, sure slap some cool voidy options in there.
Yeah. They even literally stole Metamorphosis from Demonology Warlocks. I mean sure, DHs had it first in WCIII, but still.
I wouldn’t have minded if they left it alone while also giving it to warlocks. It’d have been fitting, and they were both visually different.
I’ve seen some say the same would happen between necromancers and death knights.
I’d actually like to see the unholy spec use spirits instead of undead, let the necromancer use those, but add in a glyph for those that want the undead minions. I think having it be spirits like those that come out of the sword during Arthas’s fight would have been more fitting. Adding options is great…removing them, not so much.
I don’t like anything being removed. All the time limited stuff…BLECH
1000% agree. FOMO is garbage design.
I’m just going to give this a big no.
Death Knights have always been zombies over ghost.
You did see where I said a glyph to have undead too?
It’d be a great option.
Arthas does it…ties into the runeblade very well.
I’d make spirits the glyph, and leave undead as the standard. Necromancers could still be easily differentiated by their gameplay.
Frost spec at the very least should be owed a black Domination themed version of their abilities through a questline or something. They turned DKS into discount magic thieves with SL.
Yes, but the Glyph would have to be for the ghost then.
That’d be fine with me.
I’d figured spirits as default would already have a visual difference with the option to grab undead.
Necromancers could definitely be differentiated. They should have been added this expansion. It’s got tons of necromancer references. Very disappointing.
That’d make for a cool class skin idea.
Works for me.
Having Army of the Dead be something like Wails of the Damned, sword points into air, spirits come out and start swarming the target.
Instead they gave them the treatment they gave DKs in Hearthstone: cut them up and glue the pieces onto the other classes who can opt into taking on their aspects. Via the “become a DK” cards for DKs in Hearthstone, and via Maldraxxus Covenant for Necromancers in SL.
Yeah, the fan suggestions have been great, and I’ve even had some ideas about how they could be done. It’s disappointing they aren’t playable.
4 specs to kinda mirror druids would be a cool way to go.
Tank, spell dps (lich), minion dps, healing
the whole new starting zone having the necromancer boss, then going into the realms of death, one of which has tons of necromancers…UGH.
At one point I’d kinda hoped they’d do it like Diablo 3…put out the expansion then a little ways into it “surprise!” Here’s your necromancer class…even if I had to pay a bit extra for it.
One thing I would like to point out while on the subject of Necromancers.
Warcraft Necromancer
- Wears Cloth
- Soul Magic
- Curses
- Diseases
- Undead Minions
Affliction Warlock
- Wears Cloth
- Soul Magic
- Curses
- Diseases
- Demon/Aberration Minions
You could probably just use a Glyph or Talent for Affliction Locks to have Undead Minions and it would be essentially the same as what a Necromancer in WoW would be. It also would not have to take from DKs or Warlocks since DKs already took from Warlocks and It would be an addition to Warlocks.
It’d work. These were two suggested themes for Warlock by Simaia and Lost Codex. I do think it could be made unique enough to be it’s own class though.
There’s a number of great Void themed ones as well.
While I agree think that Necromancers would make more sense as a Warlock skin, I so think that the draenei style Anchorites/Soulbinders would be a good fit for Unholy DK, specially when Maladaar’s armor is plate.
(Also hey y’all I’m playing 9.2 so I’m dropping by. Got an edit of a braided hairstyle I wanna share soon, but since I can’t make the VE tendril glow work on Blender I think it’ll have to be painted on)
Something I put together the other day, jewelry colors! Also trying to showcase more braided hairstyles.

Personally don’t like that idea.
Necromancers ain’t warlocks and they have the opportunity to make them very different with only a little thought.
Players alone have come up with extremely detailed builds for them and how they’d work, much of the time including a tank dps and healing spec something a warlock just won’t have.
We should expect better of blizzard at this point not less.
Class skins is a good idea, but I object to some of them.
Things like necromancer, bards, and tinkerers should be their own unique classes.
Skins should be to flavor an existing class to the lore and concept of a race/class.
