Some of the most social games on earth are equipped with a secret weapon of sorts. Don’t believe me? Think proximity is a bad idea or won’t work? Listen on and I’ll tell you everything…

What do other successful social games do?
Typing in “most social multiplayer games” on google, the list of the top result follows as such:
Sea of Thieves ← Voice Chat (Prox, Team, Guild)
Planetside 2
GTA Online
Roblox
and lastly…
FPSes like cod/valorant/cs:go
This doesn’t even cover but a tiny selection of popular games as examples. All of these games have tea, party or proximity voice chat for Roleplay, Callouts, and general small talk.
Do some people use it to troll? Yes, of course, just like people use chat to troll. That’s why mute, ignore and report function shall exist.

Why is proximity voice worth it?
You’ve probably seen a lot of posts decrying Classic’s poor state of socialization. The truth being, typing is a roadblock because it requires to stop playing the game to chat.
Voice Chat will allow seamless callouts, help casuals on their first time running content and increase multitasking and thus create a more smooth experience overall. -
Defanging toxicity and spam:
Put an option in the settings called “Voice Chat” that you press it to turn off voice chat on all your characters. On top of that, ensure the /ignore function works to block voice chat. -
Doesn’t WoW already have voice chat?
I honestly, don’t know if classic has voice chat, because that’s exactly how memorable their system is. I’ve already proven other games do socialization better with it, so I think it’s time for an overhaul.
Problem solved.
