Cries in millennial
Itâd be kind of interesting if he shifts away from his traditional role as leader and patriarch of the Alliance and then tries to become an ambassador, to bridge the faction issues.
If Blizzard are trying to do a story where he slowly gets over the death of his son, then getting over his anger and resentment and trying to help the Horde would actually be an interesting avenue to take his character down.
He wants to continue mentoring Anduin as his sort-of adopted father. Since Anduin lost his father, and Genn lost his son, that gave them a bit of a connection.
Interestingly enough, Genn is probably almost enough to have been Varianâs father.
Right, thatâs a good point.
Which means he will be an important character going into the next few expansions. If he isnât killed off in order to cause more trauma and tension for Anduin, Iâd still like to see him as some sort of ambassador.
Realistically I think theyâre just going to kill him off in TWW or a bit later.
I personally wouldnât do this, but it would still be a good tool to showcase Anduins psychological issues, especially if Blizzard are going to try to instigate some sort of Void/Shadow Corruption with Anduin.
If Blizzard really wanted to undo the faction stuff, Genn dying to save or protect Horde characters might be a really interesting way to do it. So, thereâs that route they can take as well. Itâd give his character closure and great development, and the factions would come closer together. The issue being that he dies or is gravely wounded, which might not make Genn fans super happy.
From what I saw the horde do everything the same they only miss out on Genn telling his son Gilneas is in his sisterâs hands now. Itâs also were Worgen players get a toy to teleport you to Gilneas.
ok, thank you Asheru. I did not know that scene existed, but it makes sense.
From the Horde perspective you basically just collect the rewards and get told by Calia, I think, to leave.
Iâve only done that on 3 characters so farâŚbut yes youâre right. I only have 3 70âs, and a bunch around 64.
Iâd actually say Genn is still very much interested in helping Anduin. The latest 10.2.5 conversation between him and Shaw indicates that.
That conversation was especially interesting because they decided not to tell Turalyon about Anduin having been spotted. Maybe a little bit of that drama that people keep hoping for?
This was a quick wrap up of a story thread that should have been handled a decade ago.
Genn is canonically in his 80s, itâs well past time to pass the torch.
The team has been spending too much time ignoring old arcs and building completely new ones. It makes the game feel like a museum instead of a living world.
next stop, Gnomeregan
Maybe, though theyâd have to have a good setup to turn Turalyon into a baddie. Probably Light related drama.
No he didnt. He gave up, there was absolutely nothing even hinting he was going to âretireâ going into this quest chain.
In the hands of a traitor? And she hasnt done anything to show she is a capable leader, the same goes for Calia. The forsaken should be just as pissed as everyone else, they were used as canon fodder and Tess said exactly what the forsaken were for right in front of Calia. She also admitted to working with the enemy of the kingdom going against the King.
No, he shouldnt. He looks weak and pouty as does Anduin.
Then why did it take this long? Why was the transfer of land done so poorly that the scarlet Crusade was able to move in? If anything the quest would have been much better if the Forsaken were on their way out and the Scarlet Crusade attacked and the quest was more of âthe forsaken are in the process of leaving Gilnaes but we have just gotten word the Scarlet Crusade has attacked and are trying to claim my kingdom for themselves, I mean to drive them outâ. Then there is somewhat of a reason to âwork togetherâ. In reality its just the enemy of my enemy is my friend at that point until its over. He just says âI did this for my people and my kingdom, dont think I have forgiven the atrocities your people committed against my people, now get out of my sightâ.
100x better than this garbage we got. It still shows the king as a strong king and leader, could have been much longer. Tess doesnt deserve any of this limelight, she has done absolutely NOTHING. Hardly anyone knows who she is and we shouldnt have to have a rogue, a worgen, and one of every other class to get a handle on what this story is.
The majority of the playerbase think this story sucks and it does.
Is he or isnt he? We have been told both, its almost like there is no story here other than âGenns out, Tess is in, get over itâ. The rewards are some gilded ugg boots and a fox mount they dyed white.
He retired as king. He will still do things as a non-king.
He is a guy who spent like 60 years working a soul-crushing government job and now he retired and started a new business as an âoccasional werewolfâ.
He didnt retire as king, he left his responsibility. There is a difference.
No. Anduin left his responsibility. He is the king, and he left his throne, and now there is no king in Stormwind.
Genn retired. He is no longer king. Tess is the Queen now. Gilneas will be fine. Genn is like 70 to 80 years old. Stop trying to make people work into their 80s lol
They both did.
Theres no King in Gilnaes either.
No, he didnt. Again there is nothing in that questline even hinting that he wanted to pass on the throne. In fact it reads more like he was happy to get his kingdom back for his people.
A traitor queen that isnt deserving of the thone.
It will be fine because it will never be revisited again. Gilnaes and the Worgen story are finished at this point.
And? This isnt real life, this is fantasy. Do you know how old Picard was in TNG? He was 59 at the start and around 65 at season 7 and these people live much longer, well into the 100âs. Acting like Genn is too old is just hilariously wrong when hes still in battles.
Drekâthar was old and retired, Genn ran off pouting.
THIS ISNT REAL LIFE. Do you know the difference between real life and fantasy? Because you saying this makes it sound like you dont.
Thereâs a queen. Same thing, different gender.
He saw that Tess is fit to rule and decided on the spot that he could afford to retire.
Thatâs your opinion. She got Gilneas back. Genn didnât.
Chill.
They arent the same thing.
Based on what? There was absolutely nothing in that quest line that showed she was fit to rule. She went against the king and worked with the enemy, and said in front of the enemies leader what the forsaken were going to be used for, canon fodder. Thats a bad leader. So Genn just ran to pout because he was put in the back seat. Hes king but they treated him like he didnt know what he was talking about.
No, she is literally a traitor queen at this point. She went against the kings wishes and worked with the enemy. Do you think other Gilnaens would work with the forsaken? NO.
Get better arguments than trying to squeeze real life into a fantasy land.
Hereâs the argument: Genn abdicated to the throne because he decided that Tess was fit to rule and now she is the queen of Gilneas because Genn said so and at that point he was the King and the kingâs decision is law.
That is canon. Dislike it all you want. Cry or scream if you must. You have no control over Warcraft or itâs story. None of us do. If that bothers you too much you are free to quit the game.
So Genn is delusional, weak and pouty. Understood.
