I guess you didn’t get it than because what your “Authoritarian” idea would do is leave folks open to Harrassment and Stalking because they would be traceable across all their characters.
Use your brain and think it out. Sure a few folks might start acting nicer but but we are talking the internet where that RL Caspar Milquetoast turns into Joffrey Baratheon online so it really won’t do a thing about the Toxicity of folks. What it will do is enable those who use it to harass and/or stalk someone.
So ask yourself is your solution worth it for a minor plus on people being civil if it ruins the lives of others.

No,no,and HELL NO there’s better ways to quell these issues without forcing this real ID crap. I’d unsub fast if having a battle net account turned I to an Orwellian nightmare which FYI would only give said trolls fuel for the fire.
People would be stalked,swatted and even at risk for losing their livelihood through becoming another casualty to cancel culture and much other worst things. Some of us actually ENJOY keeping our rights to privacy intact and NOT be Big Brothered into submission.
As some have stated,even with their real names on Fakebook, you have people spew hateful and dangerous diatribe IE- racism,misogyny,anti-semitism,homophobia and anti vaxxers propaganda,where in your right mind makes you think your suggestions even a good idea?! You’d fit right in with the CCP. We have accountability in WoW, you break ToS you will be banned. We do not want our irl information available so someone upset that we left a m+ can harass us on our social media and call up our job. That’s just stupid. A year or 2 ago some guy posted a thread about his kids name because he named it after a WoW character, when told it was a bad idea he proceeded to give his own name claiming it was fine (also told us he was home schooled which might explain it), within 30 minutes we had his address, wifes name, fathers name, fathers address, fathers work number and email, sisters name, number and email etc.
Some people are clueless.

I’d be happy with global ignore feature. It would do wonders because once folks realize they have a 2 hour queue for stuff well LOL lesson learned while the rest of us have gone on in peace. Actually this is probably a reason global ignore is not being implemented.

If that was the case, then we would have been having the problems before they even suggested RealID, since that part of the game hasn’t changed. What HAS changed was the ease of doing many forms of group content. Back in the day, getting a poor rep on your server meant many wouldn’t take you for content requiring a group. Nowadays that doesn’t matter anymore, so people don’t feel as punished for acting out, since they’re just a Group Finder away from finding another set of people to annoy and troll.
