So i just saw this hotfix for tomorrow and it got me thinking- and feel free to say im missing something or that im stupid…
But i don’t see how this supposed change will do anything. Versatility scales with 2% dmg to 1% dmg taken decrease right
So if two players have 40% verse, they do 40% more dmg and take 20% less damage- a net increase in dmg of 20%
If two players have 30% verse, they do 30% more dmg and take 15% less dmg- now a net increase of 15% , which is less damage overall
It seems to me like the real problem are verse procs, especially conflict major that makes you extra tanky when in stuns, which is your kill window. You are now taking even less damage than before, while essentially making the damage increase useless because you are stunned here- which throws off the balance of the verse stat.
The tankyness does not come from stacking verse, but from the huge verse proc in the stun. Am i missing something here? I get that people can now stack haste (nerf destro) and mastery for amps and essentially do more damage, but this just seems like the wrong fix.
Especially if this makes people lean towards dmg procs like gushing wounds, tentacle, TD ect which are lame and unfun to play against. Nothing like being kidney’s and having two tentacles pop up and watching them spamming you for 25k’s and crap
they nerfed conflict majors defensive benefit too

Players complain about damp, players also made a huge deal about vers. Blizz listened, ignored context and ignored everything else related and is making a change that they have no clue will have zero impact (in regards to dampen, in fact will likely worsen it).
The anger their hotfix thread caused got them to finally look at conflict major, they prob already forgot about the versatile nerf at this point. And once again they prob think they got things under control.
Meanwhile conduit, cocoon, Gpy and the absurdity that is destro lock still exist and are FAR bigger contributors to the dampen meta and since they are unchanged it will remain.
But while we still get to suffer them, we at least have the privilege of being less of a threat to them as we are now dealing less damage.

Thats a good change, too bad it doesnt address the initial point
It shouldnt have any defensive benefit
The 20 second increased cd on cocoon is really solid change. So many games you almost close out and cocoon just came back.
Also versatile nerf + strife nerf might make mws squishy enough to swap to more consistently.
Well Vers stacking gave some classes survivability against Rogues, Mages and locks. Seems those 3 classes are severely under represented on the ladders so the needed to nerf other classes to make those 3 more competitive. Think we should just call it “Blizz wisdom” as we are use to these decisions by now.

But how, when verse scales 2%dmg/1% less taken
So you do 1% more dmg overall per point
Think the part you are overlooking is that not everyone stacks vers. So those that dont stack vers are not impacted. Those that do take a big hit.
So all classes that stack something other than vers just received a damage buff. That will be classes that are already over represented.
