Ventrilo Replacement?

I know I am showing how long I have been out, but what are people using these days for talking to each other? Zoom? Is Ventrilo still a thing?

There are people who still don’t know what Discord is?

Yeah…raises hand in shame. I’ve seen Discord mentioned, but I don’t know what I thought that was. Thanks everyone! I’ll check that out.

I didn’t until classic came out. Most people would have no other reason to use it and he says he’s been out of it for awhile.

He said he has not played in a long time, right there in his original post though.

I still catch myself typing vent in chat (when I mean discord), and more ironically, actually saying “vent” over discord.

Sure, but I mean even completely independent from MMOs how could anyone have not ever heard of Discord? Unless they’ve just been completely absent from the internet entirely

That’d be like a big time sports fan saying they’d never heard of Baseball

Imagine saying this to someone without context.

Man! I love discord…goes hand in hand with chaos!

C’mon…We use Teams and Webex at work. Occasionally Zoom. Anyone I want to talk to outside of that I use the good old fashion iphone…

I should clarify because I know someone’s just waiting to jump down my throat about it: I mean no disrespect, I just find it comically unbelievable to not be familiar with Discord in this day and age

I can take a little ribbing, so no worries. I guess I just don’t “talk” to anyone while I’m surfing the web… I’ll go ask my daughter if she knows what it is. She will probably have a good laugh at my expense.

Just mentioning vent was nostalgic

Right?? I dont think Ive used vent since 2008…lol. Discord all the way.

Imagine Twitch, MSN Groups, AOL Messenger, Ventrilo, Twitter, Zoom, and now even a dash of Steam all rolled into one and completely free and that’s basically Discord. That’s why I find it so unbelievable, it’s got basically everything anyone could possibly want for staying in contact with people over the internet

Edit: add in some Facebook in there too, I guess

I was still using AOL chat until TBC launch.

Only thing worse was that flash in the pan in-game voice chat that lasted about two weeks.

I thought we still use Teamspeak tbh
