Venting as a frustrated healer

Yeah…. My favorite healer to run keys with is just not interested in keys anymore because the demand is no longer fun to engage in. The game is suppose to be less stressful than work, not more stressful.

Which is frankly really frustrating as a player.

Back when some were clamouring for a more heal focused style and the rejection of healer dpsing I tried to explain how having spare time to dps was easier and less stressful.

If there’s no spare time to dps, you’re going to have to be able to keep up with the top healers. If you have spare time, there’s wiggle room to not be a top player.

Now we have average Joe’s unhappy about tanking and healing because people who didn’t do endgame content didn’t understand what they were asking for.

The top players will always adapt and be fine. The middle might not.

You do realize you could take 10-20 seconds to step out of hte dungeon, change gear, and come back in?

‘watch your feet’ in dbm

I think you might be running with people too undergeared to do the content you are in, people who dont use ANY defensives to help the healer with scripted incoming damage, or people incapable of getting out of avoidable damage.

Every single key i have tanked where i have felt like i wasnt being healed properly has featured dps standing in fire and refusing to interrupt anything.

Nah people are largely moving away from this mindset since at least Slands.

If you’re still thinking this you’re having self inflicted anxiety

Crappy DPS who stand in the fire and don’t interrupt isn’t on Blizzard, it’s on you. You chose them to take to the dungeon.

However, there should be an overhaul on healing. If nothing else at least one ability that is similar to Brann’s potions. God I would love that only my boring pala healer. Make the DPS do some of the work.

No, it definitely still exists. Also, you haven’t done any keys and I’m not sure you really have the opportunity to run into it.

Ah yes inviting people to do dungeons is what we are doing wrong… because its clearly stamped on thier character that they will not do mechanics or out dps the tank.

Yeah. You are taking people you don’t know, then it’s a risk you are willing to assume.

that’s not even a tiny bit true. the people complaining were the ones here who were mad they were expected to hit dps abilities instead of twiddling their thumbs. they wanted more to heal. this is what that looks like.

The interrupting is bad right now. Looking over my last two key logs (a couple 7s) I am double the next person with an interrupt as healer (holy paladin).

If folks don’t know what to interrupt, it’s literally better to send it when you see a spell than to not use it. Unused utility is just consuming bar space and nothing else. Please grab a good plater profile like Quazii and that will go a long way.

The use of defensives is near 0 too. Again, watching healthbars in keys I can easily tell who’s running something like Causese’s dungeons with aura with shared_media and shared media Causese. It’s a night and day difference. The people who are tend to use defensives before the damage goes out.

Next part is take your dispels to dungeons. So many folks aren’t doing that. If the class has a dispel available everyone should be taking it right now. Dots and other dispellables are going out on the whole group at a time or several people at other times.

Another thing I see regularly is a lack of understanding of some more nuanced mechanics. One such situation being the first couple pulls in Mists of Tirna Scithe. If you stand in melee in those packs, you don’t get the giga dot on you. It hits so hard on a 6-7 it can take nearly your entire healer’s kit to keep the group alive if ranged dps insist on standing on another continent. There’s cases where being at range is beneficial, but nearly all the healers have stuff that heals close people. There’s defensives that only hit people standing in them too.

By the time I noticed, we were already past the respawn point in MoTS and my damage was keeping up just fine with the rest of the group. The only person who was being affected was myself, having to hit consumables a bit more often and actually use defensives.

Ended up with over 1 mil overall DPS, the next dps was at 1.1 mil. Literally no one was worried at the end, and thought it was funny once I mentioned it.

I quit healing 2 expansions, no wait it’s 3 expansions now. Wow. It use to be all I did in dungeons and raids. I noticed people just stand in ‘cr*p’ and expect you to heal them. It seemed to me so many edit: “would’nt” do any mitigation. I got tired of the rudeness and even mean ‘whispers’… It’s sad, I did enjoy it… then.
I have thought about getting back into it on my main but it has been so long. Also, like tanks, very little respect for these roles are often disregarded by the dps. Not all, do meet nice players but it’s few now ‘daze’.

Edit: As a dps if I do dungeons I do my best to heal myself and leave heals alone regardless. I figure they are doing their best?

Yeah on this character lol

They don’t. Only thing similar was holy priest holy well which was very op but people didn’t use it

It’s an ungrateful role but someone’s gotta do it. Honestly I just stayed healer for the quicker ques this expac. It’s deffinelty trying at times.

From tanks overpulling, to people getting hit by avoidable swirlies, to casts going off while 3 people in party have an interrupt available, it can be a rough time.

But for all the rough groups, you do at times run into a good group and it restores your hope in humanity.

Is it self inflicted if someone else is typing to me? I play almost exclusively tank and healer. I’m not worried about what the party is going to type at me.
