So now that the word is out and yet again this bogus system has issues. Venruki decided to test full Versa Gem vs NO gems and the results aren’t what players want to see.
Please…Please…Please Blizzard get rid of this hidden system. We want transparency and not have to do endless test to see what works, is bugged. The damage on our screen NEEDS to be the same on the enemies screen. Period.
You removed vendors because someone bought the wrong gear but implemented a system where no one knows what is good gear. Bravo!!!
well, yes, but if lowering your item level causes the damage you take to lower and the damage you deal to increase, one potential balance would be that it also causes the healing you take to lower and the healing you deal to increase. i’m not sure that that’s enough, but if you’re harder to heal at the same time as you’re harder to kill, the net effect could be neutral, or at least more complicated than “sockets bad, game lie”
bears further testing, imo. still weird that they’re lying to us
Imagine, you wake up on Tuesday morning after seeing this video, you get your BiS piece of gear at 475 you’ve been missing, but oh no, it said item upgraded on it when you looted it, is… is that a socket? Oh the horror, it’s a downgrade because of the socket you didn’t even want on it, and now your BiS upgrade in PvP is going to be the factor in which you deal less damage and take more. Such a cruel world. TL;DR Hotfix sockets to not increase item level.
but like do the actual numbers matter, does what the FCT says and how far the HP bar moves differ?
There has to be another calculation we can’t see by looking at FCT right?
The system tries to squish when there’s a disparity in PvP iLvL so maybe I’m crazy but even if you see a smaller number are you actually doing more damage lol
Healing does scale like this, I tested it awhile ago: the healing numbers that appear on the recipient’s screen are affected by the recipient’s item level.
It also very obviously affects % based healing and % based damage reductions if you lower your health pool/damage taken.
That being said, damage is king imo. If you play a CC comp then it doesn’t matter that much that you’re taking slightly less healing if you get the small boost in damage which allows you to kill while the healer is CC’ed.
I am curious as to how this affects Gpy and % based damage which scales with vers though.
Early on having low iLvl with sockets was a good thing because sockets weren’t accounted for in the scaling calculation. They hotfixed it to make gems part of the calculation at some point in bfa.
This is documented on the page linked in rextroy’s video
kind of funny Venruki posts about this today. When blizzard told us about the socket nerf early BFA because they thought they were to powerful. I guess we forget things.
