Vanilla Collectors Edition

I bought a EU Panda code for my wife. I saw old posts by GMs saying it would work on my wifes US account.
Is this true?

Hi there!,

As far as I’m aware codes for World of Warcraft are region-specific. So if you have a EU code it will not work for the NA version of the game. Same as vice-versa.

Some codes do work no matter which region you reside in and others do not. As for this particular code, I’m not sure if it would work being from another region of the game.

Its the items, not the game version.
Its from 2004.
Old posts say it will work…just want conformation

As far as I know it’ll only work on an eu account, I could be wrong but from past experiences of what I’ve personally seen in these forums over the years it would have to be a us code to work on an us account.

I assume you redeem the code on Battlenet?

US codes need exactly 16 digits (4x4 characters).

I think the EU region requires a different amount though I am unsure and do not have a EU account to check.

I just remember there being issues in the past with different region codes being sent out/claimed for promotions because the numbers were off.

Bah, honestly i dont know.

This is very frustrating

There isn’t a separate code for the pets for the vanilla CE, it’s all part of the game key. If you registered your account with a code from a vanilla CE, then you get the quest item to choose which of the pets you want when you create your character (Mini Diablo, Panda Cub, Zergling).

Regardless, I’d agree with everyone else that an EU code likely would not work for an NA account.

My suspicion is that you got scammed. It might be worth starting to explore your options for getting your money back.

No. Not true. My CE code I cannot use because it is from a different region.

Anything dependent on a game license - is region locked.

If you have a box, you can tell that region pretty easily by the rating.

NA uses ESRB - EU uses PEGI

Question:

Since you can have a US and EU license on the same BattleNet account, and collections (battle pets and mounts) are tied to a BattleNet, at least for US accounts, would the same apply to collections being shared across the EU and US license?

There are a very rare few that are Battlenet tied and cross regions, but very few.

If something is tied to a specific game license, those would be region linked.

I have NA and EU accounts. There’s maybe a dozen mounts, a few pets, and a few toys that are cross-region. Mainly ones like Twitch Drops, cross-game offers are cross-region. Most pets/mounts/toys are region-locked (NA/EU/SE). Those include the Collector Edition pet/mounts/toys.
