this is incorrect, plenty of people do - that’s why ASSEMBLY LINES exist.
These are both pretty much going to be the same answer.
Because the value of the item would essentially become worthless. The people who put in time and effort to achieve certain mounts, weapons and armor should be rewarded for their efforts because they played within the set rules that said items were going to disappear.
yeah, but does anyone ENJOY working on an assembly line? I know I hated it.
i find that people working on assembly lines hate distractions. they want it to go by uneventfully.
i don’t get it either.
It can be important to them. But if it’s just a cosmetic that doesn’t affect their gameplay directly then to me it doesn’t matter. There are plenty of sets that I wanted at the time but could not achieve so I worked harder to get better at the game so I could start acquiring exclusives.
That “Blizzard hacking the mind” thing didn’t kick in for me until BFA with them doubling down on grinds to keep players logged in.
Overruled. What he is replying to, is also an opinion. Replying to an opinion with a contrary opinion is how discussions are had.
This is factually 100% wrong.
If the cosmetic affects their enjoyment, it affects their performance, usually positively if their enjoyment is higher than it was before, thus allowing them to challenge more difficult gameplay modes/options.
Enjoyment of a GAME does directly affect that gameplay.
Just because cosmetics don’t give you the same level of enjoyment, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t factor significantly into other’s enjoyment, and thus gameplay experience.
You know exactly what I’m saying. There is no cosmetic in the game that increases your DPS, HPS, Survivability, HP, Mana, Energy, Cooldowns ect. ect.
Also it feels good to achieve the cosmetics. Especially with the knowledge that it’s going to become exclusive and I was able to complete the challenge before time ran out. My favorite is the noodly face from the last patch in Legion. But factually it does not improve my performance in Raid, M+ or PvP.
It doesn’t improve STATS and your raiderio stat based parsing you mean.
Enjoyment does increase performance through your psychological experience meaning you will likely perform better at a given task. It’s why there is a saying that happy workers are better/more productive workers

here’s a source on that for you, backed by scientific research
But we can’t measure that because it’s different from player to player. I don’t know if you were aware (not trying to be snide btw) but Holinka back in Legion I think asked the PvP playerbase what their thoughts were on rereleasing old Elite sets for people to earn. And a majority of the responses were a resounding no because it would negatively impact the value of the cosmetics they earned.
The point isn’t “Filthy Elitists trying to gatekeep”. Because if that’s how people feel, then that’s hypocrisy because that’s putting on full display that the other sides feelings don’t matter while being upset that you feel that they don’t value how you feel. When at the end of the day, people with exclusives were playing with the knowledge that it was going to be removed. And that has little to nothing to do with making others feel bad and more to do with feeling good about their accomplishments.
And does some one else getting an item make you not feel as good about your accomplishments and what you have done some how?
It has little to nothing to do with what other people get. When I’m logging in, I see my character. As well as the armor and weapons I earned because I put in the time and effort to acquire them. Playing under the rules that it was going away and then later Blizzard going “Haha! Just kidding!” is not a good feeling.
I think the mounts shouldn’t drop when the next expansion drops or better yet - just scale all raids to current max level then transmog runs can actually be content
They said things would go away, did they every say they would go away forever?
What about when those expansions hit classic, will people be outraged that those items are available in classic to obtain?
If it has nothing to do with what other people get, why are folks so insistent in not allowing people to get given items, even years afterwards, and that try to ‘lord it over’ and show of with a ‘look what I have and you can’t get now’ type attitude
yeah they have…on the record actually, and to me it felt like a promise even (when it came to MOP challenge modes and that whole era).
and regarding classic - i think it’s actually a great equalizer for this type of topic…cuz i think if people are really after the “experience” and aren’t being entitled or whatever, the classic versions will def appeal to them - at least in that sense.
Honestly in the time I’ve spent that was over a decade playing this game, I cannot even recall anyone “lording over” exclusives over my head. So that concept is so foreign to me that I have doubts it even exists to such a degree that it’s even noteworthy.
As for the first 2 things, that’s such an extreme hypothetical that again it’s not really noteworthy. Because Wrath Classic is about to come out and there are already exclusives and I haven’t heard a peep about people being upset about them even existing.
And to answer your question yet again…
No. Why would they? Nothing carries over between the two. Any item that went away would still be gone in Retail.
I disagree if you’re saying that all the good stuff should be funneled to people with only one character and those who have been playing the game as intended all these years should be penalized for all the effort they put in.
So to quote you as you have quoted yourself:
But it’s a “good feeling” when veteran players trash noobs who see a cool item and want it. Which we see in every one of these threads.
It acts as an incentive for players who like to hoard rare items in-game and increases that type of mentality in the playerbase while discouraging retention.
And if you’re going to say “We don’t need new players who won’t respect me for my pretties”, then you don’t want new players in the game.
I have items that have been removed from the game. I think it’s terrible that mage tower cat form is not only unique but all others are meh. I don’t begrudge players who want their cat form to be something attractive in appearance. It doesn’t make me feel “special” or make me want to tell them it’s their own fault because they haven’t been playing the game since before they were born.
What? There´s not a clear intended by Devs, Collectors like me and others just took alts as a way to beat the odds, it’s not the way to play it, I mean that the rewards should be designed to avoid extreme RNG that causes this Meta gaming around using the maximum amount of alts or multiple accounts to try to beat the odds, I´d prefer general players and new players with the same field for those rewards instead of providing this difference for players with 50-100 characters that even on some cases the numbers don’t help with the low drop but it’s more probable for a player with that amount of character that one with only 1.
That’s why the 9.2 protoform system has been really good because you can collect almost all mounts really quick with just your main compared to previous patches that some rares only provide 1 attempt per day and then colllectors go to the extreme of doing that rare 20-50 times per day.
