"Value Preservation" CC Thread

Pandaren Pheonix: unobtainable and no similar models
Mushan Beasts: galleon or bloody coin grinds
Furbolg Bear form for druids: Only through a, frankly, skuffed MT reboot and only the fel version
Tons of Weapons/Armor options that only drop from legacy content and on a slim chance and have no equivalents for people to get other than to pray it drops (or with the armagedon sword look alike, jump through convoluted hoops the require you to have an addon to even see how in game)

Cosmetics allow people to enjoy the game/experience the fantasy they want too within the World of Warcraft. I’m glad you have options available to you that let you fulfil that desire/fantasy adequately, but as you said, you only really pvp. Other communities like the RP community are much more affected by things like this than you would be.

You mentioned not liking how you need to ‘grind’ non pvp content to be able to play pvp right? Imagine your ability to do pvp in the way you want would require you to grind raids for years, praying for one, specific, item to drop, so that you can properly enjoy it in the manner you envisioned. That is what quite a few RPers are stuck with to fulfil a character concept properly.

I’ve almost all the mounts available in game and I’d like to see improvements on MoP world bosses mounts even when i already have those, I´ll still get mad that those changes are performed now when i wasted 7500 attempts on the sha of anger but the game must change those philosophies around extreme RNG.

The perception of value as per the CC member Kyune is just toxic among collector, it just promote burn out situations with multiple account, 50+ characters just like the love rocket that was changed for worse for years instead of improvements, Devs changed requirements and everytime the mount became more complicated like requesting a new minimum level for the box each couple of years.

9.2 has a better RNG and the system implemented didn’t required a bunch of alts, the game should focus on being more friendly for players with 1 character to multiple, the best mounts should be like the mage tower mount that is related to gameplay not just a RNG drop that´s like a sloot machine and every alt its just another attempt.

Devs already show improvement when they announced changes for the love rocket, they should continue removing that RNG extreme element, it´s good to have a little but the game has too much, example Doom walker world boss for anniversary has a really low drop mount that it took me 72 attempts before the hotfix to get it, so basically a new player could spent 5 years farming it with 1 character without luck.

A lot of players tried another MMOs during the last couple of years and those are now claiming for changes, example there’s some mounts that are provided after good questlines with solo boss challenges, Blizzard added for holidays just a currency with a boring grind and the mount in a vendor, besides holidays being outdated for 9+ years.

They should improve mount acquisition and add more unique mounts like the Nazjatar Crab, some unique models, there´s players that already mentioned that Blizzard doesn´t add a new mount achievement for 500+ mounts because few players have that goal, but the collectors doesn´t have goals, the 400 achievement was added during BFA pre patch 2018 (4 years), they added TONS of mounts to the game but not goals, Blizzard should encourage mount farming instead of driving players away.

Same. Gatekeeping is lame. Kinda weirds me out that folks can write like 10,000 words about the value of mindlessly running the same content thousands of times for a digital horse. But good luck to all those that wanna do it. I hope Invincible drops for all of you…or maybe that would cheapen its “value”… :man_shrugging:

you mean like putting a unique mount behind a 1:1,000+ drop rate?

Nowhere in my post did I state I was a PvP only player. I stated during those expansions that was the kind of content I took part in. I’ve partaken in all different areas of the game and yes that includes RP. So no, as an RPer, I’m not affected by the game telling me I can’t have a specific item because it’s exclusive. In fact the opposite affect happened on our realm where players would have their own unique look to them and you’d be able to recognize them immediately.

Also just for the record I didn’t start doing RP until MoP.

Which mount in the game is a required grind in order to stay on the same playing field as other players in Raid, M+ and PvP.

So, it only maters, to you based on your statements, if player power is associated with it, when that’s not the conversation going on, at all.

Because at the end of the day it’s just cosmetic.

Objection: hear say.

So then why not just let every one have access to everything, after all, by your argument it shouldn’t mater per your own stance after all!

Why does something need to have value beyond personal value for someone? That’s a good enough reason for someone to be happy with a no longer obtainable item.

It cringe me so much that someone can have this level of OCD from not being lucky enough to loot a rare mount.

It’s a video game, just find the other mount that is easier to get.

That question goes both ways though. If you’re going to utilize the “well it doesn’t matter so why are you against it” then I’m going to ask why are you so pressed about not having it? It doesn’t matter right? It’s because it does matter.

Where the power progression model comes into play is what was on full display in Legion when you’re strongest potential was gated behind shear RNG (The Legendaries). Which feels bad because you’re underperforming and feel like a liability to whichever group you’re playing with. When it’s cosmetic, it’s personal. You not having access to a certain look does not affect anyone other than yourself.

At the end of the day, it’s a game. And within said game they have set specific mounts and cosmetics to either be extremely difficult to obtain or unobtainable because the window has closed. And it should stay that way. Except for the Brutosaur mount that was BS.

You were the one making the argument that it doesn’t mater because it’s not tied to power progression, no one else did. You said it doesn’t mater because it’s not tied to power progression, so why gatekeep people out of what they would find an enjoyable experience by giving them the options they are looking for.

Then why do people who have currently unobtainable things stand so vehemently against letting others also get those things to increase their enjoyment if it’s a personal thing? There are also people that go out of their way to ‘lord it over’ people with the unobtainable items they have just to say ‘I have it, you don’t’ and that’s the only enjoyment the get out of it, by trying to lower other people’s enjoyment with toxicity

None, but those items are equally important to some players as power progression is to others. Both are just Blizzard hacking gamers’ minds to get them to stay logged into the game.

Clearly it’s working for OP so thumbs up for Blizzard i guess.

Alright.

Alright…

i was referring to two separate things.

There’s no singular answer since the player base isn’t monolithic.

My reason is if something was advertised as time limited it should stay that way. Simple.

Alright.

However, too many people around here mistake facts with opinions and vice versa.

no worries :revolving_hearts:
