items received from Mythic Keystone dungeons can now be upgraded with Valor Points earned by timing keys;
The item level cap of the upgrades is based on things like the Keystone Master achievement though so 220 ilvl gear will probably still be unattainable for casual players

casual players have no need for 220 gear if they’re not doing the content that requires it so that’s fine.

I wholeheartedly agree! As a casual, Blizzard answered my pleas and gave me Covenant gear with great open world bonuses and it’s fantastic for what I do!

I’m sure you’ll be selling KSM to casuals even more now. Gratz on your free gametime for the rest of the expansion!

I wish more people understood this logic.

I really hate the view of “Well you’re not even doing content that calls for it so you don’t need it!” Even the casuals like getting upgrades and advancing their characters. Few people care as much about what others are doing or being rewarded with as the people at the top, and usually they’re just offended that their ilvl doesn’t make them special anymore.
-Casual heroic raider/12ish keyer here, couldn’t care less what other players around me have as long as I’m keeping up with the requirements my group sets for its members.

If you can’t do the hardest content, you don’t deserve the best gear. You can play hockey without being in the NHL

That’s a harsh thing to say about a video game. Why do you care if Fred the WQer has you ilvl or better? You ever gonna see him again after you kill your 10 boars?

Translation : Casual players have no need to pay for and play a game that’s not for them.
Grats hardcores you win again!

I wonder if you complete the keystone achievements on one character, the upgrade capacity is account-wide or is character-locked on which it was completed on

Because there’s such a thing as status???
Because that’s why classes even exist IRL and people strive to go from an apartment to penthouse in Manhattan and when they get there they don’t want handouts given to those who want the same thing but put 0 effort in to get it???
Seems like a basic human trait to WANT others to go through the same grind to EARN what you have earned if you get to those levels and don’t want Welfare of Warcraft coming in to interrupt.

You’re trying to say the hardcore players are human. Common mistake. They want the best and everyone else to suffer because they didn’t get there first.

Nah **** your status. Let casuals grind out better gear. A trade off between time and difficulty the way I see it.

It makes sense. Valor won’t be a primary means of gearing but it will help curb rng and still let you progress.
Isn’t that similar to arena rating dictating ilvl caps?

Really good change. It will still sting to not get a 226 Blood-splattered Scale from your Vault but the ability to upgrade to 220 is good enough to close the gap. Very good change, very very good.
I am very happy, although I hope that 9.0.5 has some form of content, not just badges.

Just take solace in the fact that those peoples’ lives revolve around the game and they don’t have much going on in real life.

What are you on about? If all you’re doing is world and legacy content, what use do you have for 220 pieces?
