Using the Ignore function: Will the ignored person still see me in trade chat?

I have a very specific question about the Ignore function in-game:
If I put someone on ignore, will they still see my comments in trade chat?

I understand I won’t see anything they type. That’s actually not my issue with something going on right now. The important thing is whether or not I’m visible in trade chat to them.

Reason: I have a troll who bombs me in trade chat whenever I attempt at LFW. It’s the same person, and he always tries to kill my business making remarks about me (we don’t even know each other). If I have him on ignore, it fixes the problem for me seeing him, but I don’t want him to read my adverts in trade LFW at all to trigger his trolling. Will the /ignore function also block my activity from him?

Yes they will still see it.

While ignored, the player cannot whisper you, send mails, initiate duels, or send group invitations. You will not see their messages in public chat channels, and you will not be placed in a group with them via the Dungeon Finder system.

They can still see everything you type. The only way they wouldn’t is if they also had you on ignore.

You ignoring them doesn’t somehow force them to ignore you.

From personal experience, yes, they can still see your chat if you place them on ignore, which won’t stop him from bombing your advertisements.

…I’m not entirely sure if you’re able to report for Ongoing Harassment even if you have proof the troll’s continuing to bomb your ads (i.e. a friend telling you that they saw the troll yelling “Pavook is charging too much/a scammer!” in trade), since the troll’s not circumventing the ignore feature by merely posting in Trade.

(…unless the troll’s stupid enough to say something like “Pavook is a scammer, you should whisper awful things to them about it!” and it results in you actually receiving whispers from other players about it…)

Is there a reason why? Are you sure they’re 100% trying to disrupt your advertising for services and not just thinking they’re funny? It’s not uncommon for folks in Trade to make quick quips and jokes about some ads.

My experience, if I ask for a specific craft in Trade with a specific rating, I get whispers from folks who are able to do the craft, or will direct me to someone LFW who can. Trade is just to throw it out there en masse, but it goes into whispers shortly after. Puts a little bit of organization to the chaos.

In regards to your question: No. You won’t see anything they type and you will very unlikely to be in a group with them if you use the queue finder, but they can still see anything you throw out there unless they also ignore you.

At this moment your best action is to pretend they don’t exist, which the ignore tool is meant to encourage. If you’re doing nothing wrong, business will stumble your way.

I believe this is for people who circumvent the ignore functionality to continue harassing the player, like going on a new character/account. If they’re not, it can’t be ongoing because, well, communication is blocked off.

I can be wrong on that and folks are welcome to correct me, but I think that’s how it works.

I’m not sure if it’s that specific. If Pavook reports it as On Going Harassment, and offers the history of the targeted ad bombing, Blizzard can determine if the offending conduct rises to the level of an account action. It may not, but I’d let the GMs review it and make that decision. In the meantime, Pavook, I’d keep this jerk on your ignore list and don’t engage with him directly, and hopefully he’ll stop. I hope it works out for you.

Honestly, that’s not what this topic was about. There doesn’t need to be a reason or a discussion on interpreting players’ behaviours. It’s merely a question of asking if someone on ignore can see my public comments in shared channels, and now I that I see the answers, I can handle the rest on what I’ll do going forward.

I know this isn’t going to come off right in text, because I’m not being snippy, I do want to thank you for replying and giving your insight about it, which I’ll consider, but the ignore function is personal, and I only added the reasoning to give context as to why it mattered for me.

Thanks again!
