Using taverns instead of dungeon finder

Of course it’s possible, all theyd have to do is rip out one of the most convenient features of the game.

Making it optional would just mean that damn near nobody would use it. Why wait and wait and wait hoping someone walks up to your figurative table for the dungeon you want to do instead of just queue for it and have it happen automatically?

Or hear me out, while you’re waiting in the dungeon finder there’s a menu to get beer and tavern food while you wait.

Just go up and talk to him, I believe in your flirting abilities OP, you got this!

Not only that. Back then, IF and Org were the only cities with their respective faction’s auction houses. SW/Darnassus and TB/Undercity AHs were added later (I forget when).

The AH was quite literally the singular reason that Org and IF became the default hangout cities.

But adventurers always attack the tavern clientele.

I would not want it to be mandatory, but it would be cool to have a base with various NPCs who can answer questions about their specific dungeon and also open up the dungeon funder for you.

We did have the PVP officers clubs in vanilla. Forget the name, but if you never made a certain rank, you could not go in. Plus that is where you bought armor. Even back then there were usually only about 2 peeps in there at a time, plus outside each BG there were gatherings where we waited for the queue.

Meeting in taverns would be a really cool idea. However, I don’t think it would work in today’s WOW. The community is fragmented across servers, shards, and warmode.

Yeah I was around in wrath when they invented the dungeon finder. It literally saved my sub I’d only been in fewer than five instances before that.

People don’t seem to realize that you can’t force people to group. This game was “good enough” to me as a solo player even without instances. It was getting a little dry, then boom dungeon finder was a thing and I thought it was the greatest thing ever.

Other than duskwood for the memories I level almost exclusively in instances to this day. I have no friends in game. This has been working for so long they will never roll it back to TBC or vanilla where you were either on the hype train or left behind permanently.

In TBC I capped so late that people were only looking to do heroics. I could not do heroics as I had not done normals. Only you see no one was doing normals.

People act like group finders were some kind of poison when really as far as I’m concerned it is precisely what has kept the game alive.

I mean I never set foot in a raid until MoP, because I thought LFR in cata wouldn’t even be for me. I knew what raids were, they were what those guilds of people who got along with people on the internet teamed up to do and I was just gonna keep on ignoring them like they didn’t exist. But what do you know?

Queues. It’s what’s for dinner.

Every dungeon and raid needs an inn inside a town close to it, so you kill 2 birds with one stone. You travel to the destination and the inn has people in it to group with that wanna do that specific content. Win win

This is actually a really good and fun idea. Especially for those like me who don’t have time to be in a guild because my work schedule is totally fubar. I wish they’d impliment something like this.

Its a cool idea for sure. Seems like a good fit for M+ in particular.

Think by naxx patch we had them, or TBC. I just remeber in WOTLK pre patch? The stones at dungeons to summon. That was POTG.

I think in TBC every group wanted alock for summons. (My brother plays lock so ive always had one in my group)

It’s not “RP” to want to connect with other players. It’s “RP” if you have to talk as an orc/troll/gnome, etc. while doing so.

All i can say is people on classic thought the same way. That yhe LFG was damaging to the community so blizzard didnt implament it. And now they are wanting it put in. People keep saying it needs removed but as soon as they do people will be wanting it put back in

Could make the Brawl’gar arena and Ally equivalent that sort of area. Just unused instances at this point being Brawlers Guild looks as if it is never to return.

Video representation of how that will go

Reminds me of Vanilla-TBC where you had to stand near the Battlemasters for PvP to queue for battlegrounds.

It was really neat because you’d see most if not the whole PvP community on your server, intermittently between queues, and talking to each other and stuff.

However, it prevented you from being able to play the game and go gathering or something, because you’d have to run back after the BG was over, back to Orgrimmar or Shattrath, to talk to the NPC to requeue again.

Yeah…

Good in theory, but it’ll never actually happen.

People would just revert back to spamming chat (which I actually didn’t mind, back in the day, when wow was more social for me).

Wouldn’t work in 2023. The landscape has changed, no one has time to sit in town for an hour to get into a simple dungeon. The social aspect in wow died ages ago, now only a toxic battlefield where players hate each other and are quick to call out on dps, etc.

I agree, this used to be a social game. Putting groups together was a challenge back in the day, but you met people with similar goals.

You think finding a tank or healer is rough now. Do this and every tavern will just have the chads standing there yelling their gold cost to join you.

Sounds like an awesome idea, but at this point in the game, it goes so far backwards, it eats up so much more time, and it will just be abused.
