Question now seeing the next expansion coming out the Epic set is $90 if I have some money on my battle net balance can I combine that with my CC to buy the new expansion when it becomes available to buy?
Okay cool…thank you Sniperorc…I wasn’t sure cause I know you can’t use Battle net balance to buy 6 month subs that have mount giveaways on them…they stopped that back in Legion…
The difference there is that a subscription is a recurring automatic purchase and has to be backed by a formal chargeable banking instrument, like a credit card or a PayPal account. Balance isn’t that, so a true subscription can’t be purchased with it.
You can buy a fixed block of game time (2 months) but not a subscription.
Balance is intended for once-and-done purchases, and subscriptions aren’t that.
Yeah I know now but there was first time they offered up one of those Sub packages with mounts I was able to use a bnet balance to buy it…the next one is where they cut it off and changed it…
Edit to add I was incorrect, but leaving this here so the thread makes sense to anyone reading it.
Additionally, a purchase cannot be split between a CC & Balance, it needs to be all done on one or the other. (Unless there has been a recent change)
It was changed, as the support article I linked earlier states.
It was fairly recently that this was changed. The support article is 5 months old.
Hard to wrap my head around the fact that they’ve already been doing these for almost seven years.
Good ol’ Dreadwake was one of the very first, but wasn’t available through a sub purchase, only through the 180-day block of game time when it was still around. Subscriptions have never accepted Balance. The distinction is nuanced, but it does help when others might be redirected here from Google or another engine.
Yes, you can split payments now for most purchases, I’ve received a few emails already reminding me of a rough 5$ balance available. Subscriptions still excluded
