dont think we’ve ever had a 4 week ptr cycle in this games history for any patch regardless of size
i’d guess early/mid sept for 10.1.7 then late november for 10.2 PROBABLY releasing around thanksgiving which the RWF and season star taking place a bit before christmas
Maybe. I think them waiting that long to release the new season / raid would be pretty detrimental though. Especially if Microsoft acquires blizz in the next week or 2.
Season 1 lasted roughly 22 weeks? They seem to be pushing content faster these days just at a smaller rate.
When people who have been gladiators for a decade are 2100 and being even elite requires tournament level skill in week 8 day 56-63 of the season. I think it’s safe to say your going to dry out your low-mid players who don’t have a snowballs chance in hell or will just not participate until week 16 because it’s pointless. Was rss dfs1 a record hit because of convenience or because rating was appropriately obtainable in some peoples opinion?
yeah thats actually true
i suspect 25 weeks down from 30-35 yea
i think it was successful because it was a new expansion
SLS1 and BFAS1 were also record successes
most people play wow like it’s a new assassins creed rpg where they buy the expansion and play for a couple months then unsub

Definitely a combination of being super accessible, not having to find teams.
You can grind away solo. Que’s weren’t terribly long at start of Season 1.
Rating was inflated early, people could get legend if they played enough games pretty easily. Glad is not obtainable to your average player, Legend much more so if you tried hard enough.
And yeah, new expansion, and just in general solo shuffle is so much more easier for casual players and pve’ers to get involved in.
New expansion, new mode, high participation, no reason to play other brackets for most people, etc.
And most importantly no dealing with LFG.
I think all were a recipe for success however if you had this seasons mmr I am certain it would’ve dried up quickly. If we go back to historical data didnt seasons like sl s2 have massive participation? I believe I saw that, would definitely had no other reason than having appropriately obtainable cr
