you can disable the user account control - control panel - user accounts - change user account control setting and slide the bar to the bottom (never notify) or set the Battle net Launcher to exit when the game is running…
Thanks Eel,
Yes I know you can disable it, although for a security standpoint its best not to.
This problem has just never happened before so I wondered what could be causing it.
Heya Pumpyumpkin,
This pop up is most common when the Blizzard Desktop Application is installing or patching a game. Typically it should not happen while you’re gaming, unless the setting for “Pause updates when I launch a game” is disabled.
I have seen cases where Antivirus software will Quarantine our game or app files. The app is made to automatically scan for updates, so if any updates are being put in quarantine it will just redownload them again and again. If you have any third party antivirus software installed I might suggest temporarily uninstalling it to verify if this is the cause.
If you only have Windows Defender, please ensure Windows is updated since Defender gets its updates through the operating system.
I do hope the info helps. Cheers!
thanks for the response Kaldraydis. The game seems to be updating properly so I don’t think it’s a problem with it being quarantined.
The popups happen both when I am in game, and when I am out of the game but have battle.net open in the backround.
My virus scanner sends me a notification every time it detects something and quarantines it.
Pumpyumpkin,
The first thing I’d do is just reinstall the battle.net application in case something about it has become corrupted.
If that fails, does the behavior persist if you run the game for a couple days from a new admin account? If so, something may be messed up in your old account registry. you could talk to microsoft about how to repair that or just move your files to the new account and be done with it.
