Holy cow. People just will not type in chat. I try to entice people to use zone chat and get nothing in return. I miss the old days where people would chat it up a lot more. These games are so dang anti-social now.

Too toxic most of the time. I generally leave all channels as soon as I log in. Guild chat is enough.

Honestly? Unless I’m in a starter zone, I’m not paying attention to chat while questing. Not even guild chat. lol

I am not usually in a zone long enough to participate in a zone chat.
If I’m there, I’m traveling to a delve, dungeon, raid, or for a specific wq.
Then I’m out of the zone
Blizzard has recently fostered an atmosphere of people being afraid to chat for fear of reports.
I mostly think this is silly, but I’ll admit that banned for using words filtered by an optional language filter does seem to send mixed messages on what’s accepted in chat.
Having an option to display mature language would heavily apply this language is accepted by those who wish to have it unfiltered.
If it’s not accepted, what’s the point of letting people choose to see it?

and then those same people throw fits at any proposed convenience feature that might “affect the social aspect” or "make cities empty’ or whatever.
when the “social aspect” is just sitting around afk in the expansion capital anyway.
I would respect that argument more if people actually did use the Zone chat.

Someone stalked me and used zone chat to talk about me. Was so weird. Other people started hating on them.

everyone in the zone gets to know if I got a good drop like a pet or something else good, sometimes it’s just random things tho
like yesterday when I told everyone in Undermine I was dressed as a raccoon and picking thru the trash can
I chat in /1 in delves alot also.
PTR seemed ded last nite, I never got a single reply until I was long done and out and one player whispered me.

I shut that off 15+ years ago. When you can make sure there is no politics or transphobia I will consider turning it back on.

I turned off /1 on most of my characters and I leave Local Defense immediately upon character login after creation.
Too much heavy handed moderation. Lotsa folks reporting everything said these days.
