Use AI to detect low performance in BGs

It’s about time that Blizzard does something about all of the people in random BGs who either don’t play to win or don’t know their class.

Obviously, it’s not feasible to match a Blizzard employee to observe the game play of every single person playing in a BG. This is where AI comes in. AI has made amazing leaps in the last few years and it can learn what is good game play and what is bad game play. The AI would use a complex algorithm to determine a player’s Competency and Reliability Rating (CRR).

If a players CRR falls below an assigned threshold, then punishment will be administered. Some on the forums suggest punishments such as getting suspended or banned. Those people are soft. If you really want to stop this behavior of people not playing to win or needing to “l2p” as they say, then you need a real incentive to change their behavior.

I suggest live-streamed public executions. If you make an example of enough of these people then their behavior will change (not the ones that are dead, obviously, but the others). I know that it seems harsh but this is really the only way to proceed for the greater good of the game.

You greatly overestimate our current AI capabilities.

If we can’t utilize machine learning to analyze the data real time, perhaps some kind of post processing big data analytics that measures the captured data. It’s ok if it takes a day or two for enforcement…

I mean, it could even update more frequently than forum profiles…

AI is glorified statistics. What you’re talking about can be done now and it sucks as bad as artificial sweeter.

My advice is that if it matters that much then queue rated. You’re asking for raider io to be implemented for heroic dungeons.

See you at your public execution. I’ll make sure I spam the chat with this post :).

how do you get better if you dont play?

The deep learning AI will take into account how many games you have played and will adjust your CRR appropriately.

The system is not heartless, but if you don’t improve as you play more games you will die.

The only problem there is lots of people that peak with their skills. At some point, they don’t get any better.

Aren’t random BG’s the place provided to learn their class in PVP?

What if instead of public executions the AI just forces them to play Strand of the Ancients forever ever after? And instead of trade chat we could just have a small streaming window gazing into the SOTA, and the SOTA gazing back at us?

edit: the AI needs to be voiced by that one video game that came out like 6 years ago with the companion cube. In fact, I don’t want an AI to judge people, I just want an AI to yell at people like the shadow priest artifact whenever they kick penance.

Those ai bots in islands at least know to cc when I pop burst. It’s almost instant every time.

Kinda like how I always get mind controlled in M+ the second I pop incarn.

I think they should have gone one step further with the PVP AI to recreate a true PVP experience. Allow them to send ragewhispers to go die in the trash. Or allow them to list in LFG to create a raid group like WPVP tough guys.

Or, just report them.
